C.I.E.N

Centro de Investigación Ecológica Nacional National Ecological Research Center Laguna Iberá, Corrientes, Arg. Esteros del Iberá is an extensive wetland that covers between 15,000 and 25,000 km² in the province of Corrientes, where a subtropical and tropical ecosystem of great diversity is developed. C.I.E.N. is a National Ecological Research Center located on the shores of Laguna Iberá, the second largest lagoon in the estuaries. The project arose in order to give the sector a space with the necessary conditions for scientific research of the place. It has a research sector, an educational sector and lodging for the scientists, both permanent and visitors. The sectors address the study of resources such as climate, water, soil and biological diversity (flora and fauna) of the Mburucuyá Nature Reserve. The building generates spaces and technological tools to assist the scientific sector on a national scale, in addition to the incentive to educate on ecological conservation. The objective of this development is to generate new knowledge and innovative tools in the field of ecology; and for it to act like an outdoor laboratory immerse in the Esteros del Iberá.

portico building Residential building Tucumรกn, Arg.

Porticos building is a apartment high-riser. The terrain is located between two houses with adjoining walls. The main design objective was for the building to maintain harmony with its surroundings and to give the area a lacking green space. The building is integrated by a sequence of porticos of different sizes that generte a visual and spatial continuity. The building has four characteristics that were taken into account when designing, 1. Immediate surroundings with variable heights; human scale and lack of green. 2. Mimicry with the environment through the use of straight vertical and horizontal lines, and with porticos that increase their height as they move away from the municipal line. 3. Free plan and green 4. Continuity: invites the user to the building and eliminates municipal line as a limit.

ecolodge

Ecological Hotel/Cottage Indiana, USA

Ecolodge is a building located in Indiana, USA on a large terrain with steep slopes. The hotel is composed of two longitudinal bodies connected by walkways, one containing the guest rooms and the other the reception and a spa. These elongated forms were designed so that the entire building would be able to receive light and sun during the day since the climate is very cold. On the other hand, the eco-cabins are separated more privately from the hotel. The main idea of the building was to create a complex where everything forms part of the landscape, is sustainable, has historical continuity and can integrate the old with the new.

urban proposal

Tucumán, Arg.

Urban proposal was thought for some of the abandoned areas in San Miguel de Tucumán. A lineal proposal in which priority is given to maintaining green but incorporating cultural and sport buildings. The main idea was to create a “green lung” designed for the enjoyment of users and to revitalize the area. The proposed organic design gives a flexible space to be traveled as a public walk joining the different buildings. The proposal also tries to include and create a relationship with the adjacent blocks by incorporating green in them, in such a way that it invades the houses little by little and has a direct communication with the “green lung”.

“pedes in terra ad sidera visusâ€? National University of TucumĂĄn, Arg. Analyzing the site to intervene in all its scales it is posible to identify the character of it. The site is a memorial site but it is not well developed. I decided to resolve the proposal with a strong commemorative character to the military dictatorship and that students may feel as part of the place. The proposal generates different spaces through the use of roads and the different levels of the land. The objective is to maintain and enhance the character of this space to allow full use of it, through a landscaping treatment and the provision of necessary equipment. The vocation of the site is to serve students by maintaining their identity as an area where memory is present. The sector contains an architecture and civil engineering building, semi-covered walkways, vertical circulation services as well as a variety of vegetation. The sector also is characterized by a lack of social equipment where users can not appropriate the place. The users are mostly students who practice activities such as recreation, socialization, eating, reading and resting. The presence of the footbridges allows a design that can be appreciated from above and a reminiscence to the Italian gardens.

formal generation / idea The “golden rectangle has a proportionality between its sides equal to the golden ratio. When a square section is removed, the remainder is another golden rectangle; that is, with the same aspect ratio as the first. Square removal can be repeated infinitely as to get the golden spiral, which is a logarithmic spiral. It is more pleasing to the eye because of its particular proportions between its sides. From it we can obtain infinities of new golden rectangles and other designs

vegetation

design elements

It was decided to maintin the existing vegetation of the area because of its beauty: trees of old age. The proposed vegetation is designed to give a lot of shade to make good use of the outside, taking into account the climate. I chose trees with and without flower, with short periods of being without leaves. I propose citrus trees for the consumption of the users. Yellow and lilac colors predominate to contrast with the gray concrete of the blocks. Flowering trees provide a good aroma to the environment. All these qualities give a particular character to the area that increases the quality of the space.

Intermodal Passenger Station Tucumรกn, Arg.

The project was a contest for a steel company. Analyzing the province of Tucumรกn I decided to concentrate on the current problems of traffic and the agglomeration of people on a provincial, national and international scale.
