EDITOR’S NOTE Celebrating Women. If ever there was ever a time to pause and celebrate the greatness of motherhood it is now. Although it only comes around once every year, Mother’s Day should truly be an everyday event. After all, a mother’s work is never done and as Mother’s day should be celebrated every single day so is Women empowering women should be our daily thing, I acknowledge and applaud these individuals for their contribution to society and to mankind as a whole. Being a Mother & woman is no easy task; it takes a whole lot of love, strength, and determination. There are two women that I admire the most in my life- my mother and my grandmother, They have taught and have inspired me in so many ways. We should all give thanks to the beautiful women and individuals in our lives that have nurtured and cared for us.

Top Ways to Impress Young Mother Text her Surprisingly She would be more than happy to get this text that she must not have thought. Mother’s day is the perfect time to do that. This out of nowhere pleasantly surprising message would be nothing more than a Mother’s day gift for her. She may not be in the habit of checking her phone, and therefore it’s important to be patient in this case. Don’t feel bad if she is not replying, it was just to make her realize that she is loved. Put her favorite dress secretly on her door Deny to stop by her house while passing on the way, but secretly put on her door a “a secret surprise” for her. This is going to remind her of the times when she was in that zone of love and everything. This surprising gift would make her realize that she is loved, she is valued and she is adorned. Look into her eyes & utter poignant words This is superbly a precious way of conveying love to anyone who is loved. Find that poignant moment when this can most effectively convey the feelings of heart. Make her sit surprisingly, look into her eyes and tell her that “you are the greatest, the most loving, affectionate, and smartest mother of this universe. This reinvigorates the soul connection between mother & children! Take time to Praise her & encourage her for the efforts she puts in It’s the effort that matters! Take some time on mother’s day to make a list of all her efforts and secretly place that list on her bedroom. Do it in a way that when she opens her eyes in the morning this is the first thing that she notices. This is the best way of saying that all her efforts are being noticed. Send her an encouraging Mother’s day card Mother’s day is just around the corner and it’s the best time to send her some encouraging piece of words. On the first hand, this will make her realize that her efforts as mother are being noticed and this will make her feel great. These mother’s day celebration ideas will give her a positive impression that the efforts she has put in and the sacrifices she has made, have not gone unnoticed. She truly resides in her children minds and nothing can ever replace the love she has had given.

LIP PRIMERS THAT YOU HAVE TO ADD TO YOUR MAKEUP BAG Any great makeup look starts with an extraordinary skin prep — and that extends to your lips, too. Truth be told, there are a lot of steps that go into prepping and priming your lips, from making sure they’re scrubbed to adding lip balm and applying a good primer. Ahead, we broke down the steps you need to take, plus six of our favorite lip primers, to help you create a great makeup base for your favorite lip look. We’ve compiled a list of best lip primers so you can eat, sip, chew, and chat knowing your lipstick will still be there at the end of the day.

STEP 1: Always Exfoliate Exfoliating your lips is probably the best way to prime your lips for lipstick. The Sara Happ Brown Sugar Lip Scrub smells out of this world and thoroughly wipes away any dry flakes lingering on your pout. STEP 2: Apply a Balm Pick a lip balm to hydrate your lips before lip primer and lipstick application. We love the Go-To Skincare Lips! Balm for a soft, restorative finish.

MARCH 2020 | ISSUE 63

STEP 3: Add Your Lip Primer Lip primers are the final and most important step before applying the lip color of your choosing. They work to plump and create a smooth base that will instantly magnetize your favorite matte liquid lippie or lipstick.

We still can’t get over some of the incredible looks from the 2020 Brit Awards! Aside from the beautiful gowns, one very important part of a celebrity’s overall look is their hair and makeup. We’ve heard of matching your accessories or even your nails to your outfit, but Anne-Marie took color-matching to the next level with her pink hair and dress. She finished her wet-look hair with a sparkly headband and even rocked candy-colored hues on her eyes. Beauty-wise, does Michelle ever get it wrong? To complement the bold number, the model added a splash of color with pink eye makeup and styled her short hair in a sleek do. MARCH 2020 | ISSUE 63

SPRING NAIL TRENDS THAT ARE GOING TO FLOOD YOUR IG THIS SEASON Before you know it, temperatures will start to rise, flowers will begin to bloom and spring will be in full effect. It’s our favorite season because it’s when we start to revamp our beauty routines, starting with our nail looks. Now is the best time to switch up your mani from those dark, moody winter hues to something a little more in-season. Think: fun, floral designs and all the pastel shades. To help you pick what nail art is worth trying this season, we pulled together a list of spring nail trends that we predict will flood your IG in 2020.

Stained Glass Nails Inspired by the beautiful mosaics often seen on church windows, stained glass nails are the latest and greatest nail trend to land on our radars. We stan the intricate details and bright colors of this manicure, especially when you add a little bit of glitter like the version shown here.

Minimal Accents Calling all minimalist beauty lovers: Consider this nail trend an ode to your love of simple and chic beauty. Decorating your manicure with small, dainty designs is going to be a major hit this spring. Whether you go for dots, stars or thin lines, the key to this trend is less is more.

Modern Art Manis Okay, so we’ve been seeing these abstract, modern art manicures taking over IG lately and to say we’re obsessed is an understatement. There are no rules to this manicure, which means you can create whatever shapes and choose whatever colors your heart desires. We guarantee the end result will look nothing less than an actual piece of artwork.

French Manicure Variations The French manicure is back and better than we all remember. Instead of opting for your traditional white painted tip, experiment with different colors and even shapes, all while keeping the bottom portion of your nail a natural, nude color. It’s playful, fun and super creative.

Sasha Anne Interviewed by Fami

Sasha Anne has performed incredible makeup transformations and tutorials on her very popular YouTube show. She’s used her popular YouTube Channel “Sasha Anne” to recreate a ton of stunning cosplay makeup styles including her most popular, Elsa and Anna from Frozen. She has a true entrepreneurial spirit and created and launched her own line of tiny lip glosses called Teeny Wee. She also received a Shorty Awards Audience Honor for empowering young women with her Gal Gadot and Wonder Woman inspired makeup video. FA: So Sasha Anne, Tell me about yourself a little and what are you up to nowadays? SA: I am a beauty influencer, award-winning beauty YouTuber, teen entrepreneur, and artist. I am now working on relaunching my Cosmetics company. It’s going to be amazing. My team and I are making magic happen for my supporters. I’m also working on my popular makeup transformations for my YouTube channel, Sasha Anne and I’m finalizing my album! FA: What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of building your brand? SA: Aside from building my brand, I love to hang out with friends, shop and honestly just talk about life. As much as I love going to the recording studio to finish up my album and working on my YouTube channel, sometimes I just like to have my best friend over and we are in my room just catching up and talking and eating frozen yogurt.

FA: How did you first discover your passion for makeup? SA: I have always been fascinated with faces and expressions. I’ve always loved sparkles, glitter and the color pink and just color in general. I loved to draw faces when I was younger and experiment with color. When I saw my mom putting on her makeup every morning in the bathroom I wanted to try it out. I would spend hours in the bathroom playing with makeup. I would go on YouTube and watch makeup tutorials for hours. I discovered my passion for makeup when I found out how much I love playing with color and glitter. FA: Looking back when you think makeup, tell me what is your very first memory with makeup? SA: Using my Hannah Montana jelly lip gloss, (Laughs) I was obsessed.

FA: What is your favorite go-to Makeup product? SA: Brows, Lashes and lip gloss. Those 3 items make a huge difference! FA: On a chill day, how do you like it spent? SA: I love online shopping and I’ve been watching Disney+ lately. FA: You have come a long way, how much life has changed? SA: Oh my gosh! A tremendous amount! I wouldn’t change anything about what I’m doing, I love it all. Sometimes it does get overwhelming and I get stressed but I learn to plan my days out and write everything in my phone calendar. FA: What are some of your favorite looks and styles to create? SA: In regards to makeup, I love creating a glittery but light Smokey eye. Not with liquid liner, but with black shadow. I love any kind of color metallic or glitter on my lids, I take the edge of a card, line it up from the end of my lower lids to the end of my brow and create a little wing. I clean it up with some dewy concealer and brightening powder and it looks so clean and pretty! I like to put either green, purple or blue on my lower lash line as well.

MARCH 2020 | ISSUE 63

FA: What valuable lessons have you learned from your experiences so far? SA: EVERYTHING TAKES TIME AND PRACTICE! Yes, from social media it all looks like it comes so easily but I wish people/influencers can show the process of getting to that stage. FA: What did you learn from your biggest failure? SA: To not rush anything out. FA: One piece of advice that you got that will always stay with you? SA: Have courage and be kind and stay true to who I am. FA: Describe yourself in 3 words? SA: Ambitious, Determined and Driven FA: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? SA: I wanted to be a singer. Now, I’m finalizing my album which is crazy! I’ve been working on this album for 3 years now! I forgot it was 2020 for a second. I was about to say 2 years, wow! It’s a dream to be working on my album and I literally could not be where I am right now without my parents’ support. I’m very blessed.

FA: What is the feeling of being a popular influencer? SA: It’s weird. I never would have thought of someone calling me a popular influencer. But it feels just right when I’m doing the work. FA: What part of your job do you find the most challenging? SA: I realized that no part of my job is challenging but sometimes I have no motivation. Sometimes I just want to lay in bed and watch Disney+ or Netflix. When I have no motivation it definitely comes through. Sometimes I feel like I need to rush something out just because I said before that this is the time and date I’m putting a video out or a post or product but if I don’t like that one thing I did or I’m not proud of it, then my followers won’t like it either. FA: What do you think is the secret to have a successful YouTube Channel? There is no secret, I just think that you need to stay persistent and know your niche. Cross promoting is key as well.

FA: What is next for Sasha Anne in 2020? SA: I’m working on my first album and I’m actually going to announce/tease some lyrics in April, and release the first single in May. I’m releasing the 2nd single on my 21st birthday. Which is a song that makes you want to dance and go to the club! My album will hopefully come out in the fall because I want to spread it out but I’m not promising anything. I want to take my time so I don’t rush anything out. FA: did I miss anything that you would like to add? SA: Nope! Just stay tuned for everything. It’s going to be an exciting year. FA: and lastly, what’s your message for JAMO readers? SA: My message is to stay true to who you are.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR HAIR COLOR FROM FADING

It doesn’t matter if you have brown hair, red hair, blonde hair or a variety of pastel hues on your head, none of us are immune to our hair color fading. On a beauty level, there are few things more sad/frustrating/ annoying than a great hair dye job fading — especially if it’s earlier than you had originally intended. If you’re really trying to stretch the time between when you refresh your color at the salon or by the box, there are a few things you can do.

PHOTO: IMAXTREE

Hair Tip #1: Get a Shower Filter First things first, get yourself a shower filter ASAP, This will eliminate any hard water or mineral buildup on your hair. For those who don’t know, hard water and minerals found in your water can leave hair feeling brittle and dry, not to mention cause your hair color to fade quicker than it would otherwise. Hair Tip #2: Don’t Wash Your Hair Too Often Shower filter aside, washing your hair too frequently can cause your hair color to fade prematurely. If you shampoo on a daily basis, consider taking longer breaks between washes. Try going every other day or better yet, every three days. Dry shampoo will help you feel refreshed in-between. That doesn’t mean you have to change your entire shower routine. Invest — and by invest we mean to spend a couple of bucks — on a shower cap to keep your hair dry and out of the water. Hair Tip #3: Use a Color-Enhancing Conditioner The best way to keep your hair color looking fresh is to use products formulated to do so. Get yourself a color-enhancing conditioner to use in-between salon visits.

Be The Boss With THE BLURRED LIP YOU haVE ALWAYS WANTED TO TRY

MARCH 2020 | ISSUE 63

Move over, classic red pout — there’s a new lip trend in town, and it’s breaking every lipstick rule in the book. The blurred lip, inspired by the ever-so-popular popsicle K-beauty trend, is a beautifully imperfect, blended-out take on your typical lip stain. Lipstick is one of those things that can make or break a makeup look. Some swear by a signature color and others may eschew it all together for some wild notion of its high maintenance reputation. Whether you take it in a bullet, liquid, or some other new-fangled formula, the expectations of lipstick are fairly static. You’ve got your color, your finish, and the feel. But lipstick is a mood for me. It doesn’t pull together a look for me, it is the look. My current lipstick looks as of late has been that hazy dreamy, blurred-edge effect. It’s not ombré and it’s not gradient, but it’s the anti-liner lip look. It’s a little rebellious and purposefully messy — the bedhead of lipstick if you will.

MARCH 2020 | ISSUE 63

STEP 1: Prep Your Lips The first step is to always make sure your lips are prepped before applying a blurred lip. If lips are not properly exfoliated and hydrated prior to applying this lip trend, the color will be patchy and the effect will be lost, Make sure to scrub off all excess dead skin with a lip scrub and hydrate them with a lip balm. This will ensure that your pout is supple, smooth and ready for makeup application. STEP 2: Start With a Neutral Shade Once prepped, start with a neutral shade one to two shades deeper than your skin tone to line and lightly fill in the contour of your lips. Do not fill in the center just yet. STEP 3: Build Your Diffused Color After you’ve contoured the perimeter of your lips with the neutral shade, go in with the brighter shade of your choice anything from Day Drink to En Fuego will do and fill in the center of the lips. For the blurred, ombré effect, blend out your color with the lip brush end, dragging from the center outward to mix with the neutral shade. I also like to pair cool and warm undertone shades together when creating the ombré effect to optimize volume and dimension. One of my favorite combinations is shading Roller Disco on the outer corners and blending with the brush-end towards the center, and then filling in the center with My Goodies. STEP 4: Set the Blurred Lip After your two colors of choice are blended and buffed out with the lip brush, it’s time to set your blurred lip look. For ultimate long-wear, use a colorless powder on a puff and press it generously over the color. The blurred lip trend is great to explore if you’re not an expert at precision application with your lines a slight smudge or blur to the lip line gives an effortless look of an extreme beauty finish.

Truth be told: I get stopped a lot because of my eyebrows. Yep, on the street, in the subway, at Sephora. And I’ve experienced a lot of reactions to them — either people will gush about their love for my shape, or they’ll stare at them with uncertainty, debating whether they appear a little too filled in. Through all of this, I’ve actually come to love my brows, but it wasn’t until I found the right brow products that I truly got comfortable with how they look. Everyone has a complex relationship with their eyebrows, and it’s up to you to figure out how to maintain and nurture it and with all the knowledge I have about eyebrows and ways to keep them how you want them, here I have getherd 5 eyebrows that I think you will love too.

THE RIGHT WAY TO APPLY CREAM BLUSH

It’s no secret that as the seasons change, our makeup bag inevitability changes, too. One product that we consider a staple year-round, though, is a cream blush. In the summer, we love it for its ability to give our skin a flush of color while imparting that dewy, wet finish because we all know summer is all about the glow. And in winter, the hydrating formulas are lifesaving for our dry skin. With that said, applying a cream versus a powder blush can be a little intimidating, especially if you’re new to the wet formula. Luckily, I’m to give you all the tips that you should know. The goal of blush is to add flush and warmth back to the skin, which you may have covered up with your foundation and concealer and cream blushes are fantastic because they are blendable and melt into the skin to give a true-looking flush without drying the skin.

Warm it Up Unlike a powder blush, cream formulas can get a little cold in between uses, which makes them a little hard to blend. To make it easier to use, it’s best to warm it up. Before applying to the face, I like to take my ring finger and swipe it into the cream blush in a circular motion, then swirl it onto the back of my hand to warm it up. Warming up the product on the back of your hand will allow it to blend more easily into the skin and create a more natural finish. Buff it Out When applying your cream blush, it’s super important to blend it out onto your cheeks and into your temples. Smile, then lightly tap the product with your ring finger onto the apples of the cheeks and up the cheek-

bone. Next, buff the product into your skin in circular motions using a brush like the Urban Decay Optical Blurring Brush. We suggest pairing this brush with the Maybelline New York Cheek Heat blush as it’s a gelto-cream formula that creates a buildable, beautiful and natural finish. Powder to Finish A great way to make your cream blush last throughout the day is to layer a powder blush on top of it to set it. After you’ve applied your cream blush, set it with a powder of the same shade. We love the Maybelline New York Fit Me Blushes for the creamy powder formulas. It’s the same idea as using a powder to set your foundation to make it last all day.

The official first day of spring is March 19, which can only mean one thing: It’s time to whip your wardrobe into shape. Temperatures will finally warm up enough to allow you to peel off those bulky layers and slip into separates that feel fresh and exciting. Once you’ve gone through the song and dance of tucking away your wintry pieces and hanging your spring staples in their place, you might notice a few holes in your closet. This is pretty normal. After a few years, our clothing and accessories endure enough wear that it’s time to replace them, and if you’ve found yourself in a similar place, then the roundup below should pique your interest. Though it’s hard to narrow down spring’s most important trends to three items, we did our best. See our list of three versatile-yet-exciting trends that have the power to take an outfit to the next level. You won’t find any loud, flashy trends here—just stylish, polished items that can easily blend in with your existing wardrobe.

Zoë Chicco Curb Chain Ring

If there’s one jewelry trend that’s taken the fashion set by storm as of late, it’s chunky chain jewelry. Architectural earrings, necklaces, rings, and bracelets crafted in thicker silhouettes are decidedly the bauble worth investing in right now, and because they’re delightfully versatile, you can keep wearing them for years to come.

FA: So Haven, tell me what have you been up to nowadays? H: Hey!! I’ve been in the studio a lot, just released my new single “Be With You” and I am rehearsing for tour currently! FA: So you recently released your latest single called “Be With You” tell me about It? H: The process for writing “Be With You” was super rare. I was in a session and we had already written 2 songs that day. We had 30mins left and thought we’d try to knock out one more idea before I left. We ended up writing the whole song in 20mins. It literally felt like “Be With You” fell out of the sky. We wrote it faster than we could type it. That almost never happens, but it’s so cool when it does. FA: Were you nervous about releasing the song and how has the response been from your fans? H: I always get a little nervous when releasing new music, but I was mostly just super excited to finally get this song out! The reaction has been INCREDIBLE. I’m honestly at a loss for words for the support we’ve received. Thank you so much to everyone who’s been listening and supporting the song. I’m so so thankful for y’all! FA: What’s that one thing you want people to take from the song? H: I think most of us have been in a situation where we give up everything for one person, just for that person to let you down in the end. I hope people can relate to the story in the song. I’ve had a lot of people reach out and say that they’ve gone

through a similar situation and really related to the song, which means the absolute world to me. Music is such a cool thing. FA: What’s your favorite lyric line from the song “Be with you”? H: “Everyone who knows me thinks I’m dead, cuz I ain’t even hanging with my friends” FA: Will there be more music coming out any time soon that we should know about? H: Yesss!! New single coming late March!! Super excited!! FA: So you will be joining Dinah Jane on her Tour, how excited are you? H: SO SO SO EXCITED!!! Performing is my favorite part of all of this, so to get to go on the road with Dinah is a dream come true! FA: What are you looking most forward to this tour? H: I’m really looking forward to playing this new music and seeing people’s reactions. I can’t wait to meet everyone!! FA: Other than touring what are your upcoming projects? H: Lots and lots of new music in 2020. So pumped! FA: Lastly, did I miss something that you would like to add? H: Thank you so much for the support! You can find me on Instagram and my new single “Be With You” is streaming everywhere now!

The Shoes, Tops, and Jeans the Most Stylish Celebs Are Wearing Now Celebrities’ off-duty style remains my go-to inspiration when I’m in an outfit funk. While I thoroughly enjoy the glam of award season, there’s something in the effortless ease of off-duty outfits that proves to be the most influencing when I’m seeking style tips. Perhaps it is because celebrities have it down to do a formulaic science in creating the look: top + jeans + shoes. It’s a simple combination, yet when done right, it successfully translates into the ultimate off-duty look. Though it is a rather uncomplicated formula, there is an art to the pairing that we can learn from some of our favorite celebs. From a vast range of denim washes in wide-leg and classic skinny silhouettes to blazers and band tees, celebs are giving us plenty to work with. Take a cue from Selena Gomez and embrace bagginess in both your top and jeans or go for Kendall Jenner’s iconic denim-cardigan-and-sneaker look. The choice is yours.

MARCH 2020 | ISSUE 63

Is it me, or is Kaia Gerber the queen of off-duty street style this season? Though fashion month just commenced, her in-between-shows outfits are already killing it. Take a note from Kaia and opt for a relaxed, plunging neckline paired with a straight-leg silhouette for an effortless look.

This outfit almost broke the internet. From Kendall’s hair clip to her cropped cardigan paired with two-tone jeans and classic sneakers, this look is the ticket to the ultimate off-duty look.

Leave it to Alicia Keys to pair a few wild cards to create an undoubtedly cool ensemble. Make your plaid shirt the hero piece in your outfit by layering it under a funky coat, and tone down the look with simple straight-leg jeans and classic black boots.

Bella Hadid has convinced me that bleached denim is making a bit of a return. Not going to lie, I was a bit skeptical, but when she styled it with a simple, neutral sweater and chic loafers, I was sold.

Another flawless outfit this season, Kaia Gerber’s playfulness in the neon knit styled with universal classics proves to be yet another perfect example of the off-duty formula.

Another street style icon, Selena is always serving fresh looks. Take a cue from this look, and note that baggier is better. If you haven’t noticed yet, black boots are quite popular among these celebs.

MARCH 2020 | ISSUE 63

Gigi Hadid is introducing a new denim trend I never knew I even needed: holes resting about two inches above the knee. Something about these placed rips is incredibly chic. Styled with arguably this season’s favorite boots and a printed blazer, this look can be easily replicated.

Hailey Bieber is notorious for bringing us endless outfit inspiration. Let’s not forget her Princess Diana moment earlier this year. On trend with the other celebs, Hailey is going for simple white sneakers styled with denim trousers and a sleek leather jacket.

iven that the year has only just begun, most things in 2020 are uncertain. We can’t be sure whether we’ll get a good summer, what the year’s most popular album will be, or what will be 2020’s answer to Fleabag, but when it comes to fashion, designers give us a lot of spoilers for the year ahead. Fashion trends and key buys tend to be mapped out at least six months in advance, so we can with some authority tell you the designer handbags that will dominate in 2020, and it’s not just guesswork. Of course, cult buys and new brands can emerge at any moment, surprising even the most seasoned of fashion buyers and editors, but there are certain new styles that I guarantee we’ll be talking about as 2020’s hero buys come next December. There’s a new handbag from Chanel that just might become as iconic as the legendary 2.55 bag, and Bottega Veneta is set to have a year just as golden as the last. Every buyer I speak to tells me they just can’t order enough Bottega bags. When it comes to street style endorsement, one pearl handbag by Simone Rocha is destined to have a fair number of outings at fashion week in 2020, while Katie Holmes’s favorite label Khaite has released a practical tote that makes teeny-tiny mini bags look sillier than ever. A mood we are seeing across the fashion world for S/S 20 is a desire for classic, timeless pieces, and fashion houses like Gucci and Celine are definitely applying this approach to their accessories department, delving through the archive to create handbags that will be just as loved in 2020 as they were in 1950.

JAMO | exclusive FA: So, Caroline, tell me what you have been up to nowadays? CR: For most of 2019, I focused on writing songs I’m really proud of and excited to release. Last year was a lot of working on my craft and really honing in on my sound as an artist. This year, I’m so ready to release all of this new music and perform it live! I’m hoping to do a lot of live shows, a lot of releasing music and a lot of growing in 2020! FA: So you recently released your latest single called “Stream of Consciousness.” Tell me about the song. CR: I wrote “Stream of Consciousness” by myself in my bedroom back home on a day I was feeling held captive by my thoughts and anxiety. I had just begun the move to Nashville – and my first time living alone. Naturally, I felt pretty lonely and scared. I really wanted to strip the song back to pretty much my voice and guitar to make it more vulnerable and raw than any of my previous songs. It’s completely different than anything I’ve written before, and I’m so happy with the response I’ve received from it. I think it’s so important to know that you’re not the only one with your crazy moments, all the quirks and insecurities that can feel really isolating at times. I’m happy to be a part of this conversation in the world of music. FA: Were you nervous about releasing such a personal song, and how has the response been from your fans? CR: This was probably the first song I’ve ever had some nerves about releasing. It gets really personal, and it’s scary to know that people are going to hear all of your biggest fears and insecurities in a song! However, I’m so glad I put “Stream of Consciousness” out, as I’ve had a lot of people reach out to me with how much the song means to them. It’s been really awesome to see how many people really relate to the exact same things I’m going through.

JAMO | exclusive FA: What is one thing you want people to take from the song? CR: The biggest thing I want people to take away from the song is a feeling of understanding. I think the worst thing in the world is to feel like you’re all alone in feeling alone. The goal with “Stream of Consciousness” is to show that there’s a completely different train of thought going on in my head everyday than what I may put out on Instagram or with the people I’m close to. It’s kind of a case of peeling back the mask we all wear and showing that we’re all very much alike underneath it all. FA: What’s your favorite lyric line from the song “Stream of Consciousness?” CR: Personally, I really love “I’m desperate for a good time, been told I’m not enjoying life.” It really captures where I’m at as an eighteen-year-old. There’s this constant pressure to live and experience things, go out with friends and go crazy. It’s always upset me that I haven’t found joy in a lot of these things that I’m supposed to be enjoying. I feel like I’m constantly looking for a good time, like I’m not supposed to ever be sad. It’s a source of guilt for me to have so many wonderful blessings in my life, but still deal with times of depression and isolation. FA: Will there be more music coming out any time soon that we should know about? CR: There is a lot of music coming down the line, and I couldn’t be more excited! I can’t say much about it now, but I’m really proud of some upcoming projects I’ll be putting out this year that are bigger than anything I’ve done before.

MARCH 2020 | ISSUE 63

FA: Also, let’s talk about your single “Babysit.” What’s the meaning behind it, and how did you come up with the title? CR: I wrote “Babysit” with some friends of mine in Nashville, and it’s basically a fun way of describing being in a relationship with a guy who is really immature. I think a lot of people have been there, and it can be exhausting at times to feel like you’re “babysitting” the other person. We came up with the title in just talking about these types of relationships, and we realized it was a pretty good analogy. FA: What are you looking most forward to this year? CR: This year, I’m most looking forward to releasing new music and playing it live. With that comes a lot of traveling and meeting new people. One of the many things I love about having a career in music is getting to meet the people who are supporting my music, streaming my songs, and coming to my shows. It’s an incredible experience, and I leave with such a full heart after every show. FA: What are your upcoming projects? CR: My upcoming projects include the biggest release and music video I’ve done thus far! I’ve got a lot more planned for this year, and I’m excited for the day I finally get to share it all! FA: Lastly, did I miss something that you would like to add? CR: I think that’s all! I really appreciate it! Social media can be a tricky thing for me, so any support I can get is great! It’s a lot of music and a lot of updates on my pets, haha!

Makeup

is

When you wear your favorite top or scarf and that feeling of knowing your day will go exactly you how planned and you suddenly feel confident and empowered, isn’t that a great feeling well that’s what makeup does when you are sad and got nothing interesting to do, you would put your favorite lipstick on and you look at your self feeling empowered and confident whether you just apply a lippie or a highlighter, makeup does makes a different, it empowers and makes us feel great. I have been fascinated with makeup since I was a little girl. I remember playing with my mom’s lipstick and cream blush.

MARCH 2020 | ISSUE 63

When I was a teenager I started wearing mascara and eventually some eyeliner. Once I was 17 I started experimenting more with different types of products. Now, I can spend hours just playing, experimenting, and putting on a full face of makeup. I’ve had people ask me, “Why are you wearing makeup?” Or, “Who are you wearing makeup for?” My response is always the same, I wear makeup for myself because I want to. I wear makeup because it makes me feel happy and confident. I’ve also witnessed a lot of people making comments like “They’re wearing too much makeup.” Or, “You don’t need all that makeup, you look better natural.” A lot of people don’t understand makeup is not only about looking pretty and wearing it for someone but its about how it makes us feel. Because makeup is an art. It is our way of expressing ourselves. Instead of paper, our face is our canvas. A lot of people think makeup is used just to cover up imperfections and hide what you really look like because of insecurities. Although makeup can do those things, it is really about enhancing your natural beauty. It can highlight your favorite features and show your creativity. Makeup is empowering. Making the conscious choice to wear makeup because you know it’s going to make you feel good, is a perfect example of self-security and confidence. Makeup shaming is a type of bullying. And like any type of bullying, it doesn’t benefit anyone. All it does is put someone down. How much makeup someone wears is not anyone’s concern but themselves. And who defines what is “enough” or “too much” makeup? It is all dependent on the person wearing it. Whether it is a full face, a little, or no makeup, if the person feels good about it, then it is enough. Makeup is something that should be looked at as beautiful and creative, not shamed.

5 Basics Pieces That Go For Work to Dinner If I wrote you a list today of all the fashion basics you should own, it would probably look pretty similar to the same list I could have written you five or even 10 years ago. The thing is, while what we consider “the essentials” doesn’t really change, the clout and relevance of individual items do increase and minimize, often quite significantly, over time. That’s how we end up with certain basics that feel, at times, as important as trend pieces, with others act more as backup cast members. So what are the cool basics I’m living in at the moment? You’re about to find out. There’s a little suiting, a bag moment, boots (naturally), and of course a lot of styling inspiration below, too. Whether it’s for work, weekends, or nights out.

Whether it’s a leather trench or a checked style, I’ve been living in this recently revived staple and will only continue to lean on it more when spring comes and I don’t have to layer under them to stay warm.

Whether it’s a leather trench or a checked style, I’ve been living in this recently revived staple and will only continue to lean on it more when spring comes and I don’t have to layer under them to stay warm.

Trench Coats

Whether they’re worn under a jacket with the collar out, layered in an interesting way, or on their own, button-downs are suddenly back on every fashion girl’s radar— myself included.

ButtonDowns

Oversize blazers are the sartorial gift that keeps on giving in that they look good with everything—even sweatpants—and the options just keep getting better with each new season.

Oversize Blazers

Knee Boots I love a shoe trend that looks polished for work and still cool for a nighttime engagement, and that’s just what the knee-boot revival promises. Whether you style them with trousers, jeans, skirts, or dresses, you can’t go wrong.

Trends that Will Make You Feel Like a

Boss

With Copenhagen, New York, London, and Milan fashion weeks in the rearview mirror, we’ve now set our sights on Paris once again. Compared to the rest of the fashion month, the City of Light definitely attracts the highest volume of A-list attendees, making for some sincerely stylish front row photos. Where else can you find music royalty like Janelle Monáe and Rosé from Blackpink at the same event as Charlotte Gainsbourg and Rami Malek? I sifted through tons of front-row outfits, and two themes kept appearing regularly: pantsuits and head-to-toe white. Karlie Kloss, Hailey Bieber, Kate Bosworth, and more celebrities have all showed off different versions of these trends.
