HEY SEALS! Happy holidays seals! The December season has come to bring joy and happiness for you all! I hope you all get to spend this time with your family and fellow loved ones. The season is my favorite of the year so I wish you all a merry Christmas and thank you all for being my seal family. This is a great time for us to provide service and give back to our communities. Tis a time to keep up the spirited service and work hard, because our efforts will be able to help those around us!

Jenny Chen | mountain view hs Turkey Trot was a remarkably entertaining way to spend my Thanksgiving Day! The volunteer Task Coordinator, a middle aged man, was running around like a turkey. He looked like an actual turkey because he went “gobble gobble and bobbled his head sometimes. But anyways, we helped pass out medals, water, and encouraged runners to finish strong at the finish line.

november dcm rita kuang | mountain view hs The November DCM was so much more than just going there for the food. You can say it was like a reunion for the club after Fall Rally. Usually, you’d meet new people, make new friends, as well as interact with the many you hadn’t had the chance to since Fall Rally. As for myself, I went because I missed many of the key clubbers. I am grateful that I went.

At the DCM, it was very fun. We ate a lot of food, talked to a lot of people, and played some Animal Crossing. In order to get the food, we had to play basketball, but I suck at basketball, so it hit the rim a lot. Regardless, it was a fun experience.

It was a great experience to be able to volunteer for the rose float. It was my first time volunteering for the rose float and I had a great time. We cut flowers and I helped with decorating the Kiwanis rose float. Also, I met new friends during the volunteering event, which made it even better. It was difficult, but I had a great time.

dana hua | baldwin park hs

Volunteering for rose floats has helped me to learn that even the smallest effort or things we do to help out is the greatest contribution we can make for something even bigger. From cutting flowers to gluing beans, everything counts. Although these tasks seem trivial and small, they are the most important part of the entire preparation for the floats. I, along with the club, gave back to our community with bright smiles and diligent work, and I know we will continue to do so!
