“BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD.”

- Gandhi

ARTIST STATEMENT To me design is a mirror that reflects the way I think and the way I believe that nothing is ever impossible. I grew up with the passion of observing the beautiful things in life and willing to take risks no matter how hard it might be. When I think of life, I see a beautiful place! Where hope, energy and optimism occur. Life is an artwork that is translated through the eyes of a designer and an artist yet in a different perspective. And it’s the way I translate what I imagine into an artwork. Through my visual artwork I’m inspired from the beautiful skyline of Dubai to the golden sand dunes. Designing is the tool I use to communicate and share what I’m trying to approach when my actual voice isn’t high enough. What motivates me the most is Islamic patterns and typography; it is part of my identity a part of who I am an Arab Emirati designer. There are many great artists that I look up to including Pascal Zoghbi and Tarek Attrisi. They inspire me in a way that I should give the feeling of Arabic typography in an artwork a sense of identity and culture. As a graphic designer my aim is to be able to contribute to my society in solving and spreading awareness to a social problem through my design.

BRANDING

PLACE BRANDING The project was about creating a brand for Dubai Creek, which is known for ‘AlKhor’. This project was all about portraying the place through important elements like logo, poster, magazine spread and street symbols. It’s a way of showing the spirit and essence identity for the area. Is a package I created that looks like a suitcase to hold all of the cards from the different civilizations. The back of my cards is the interior of a suitcase, containing the main things a traveler would need for a trip like clothes, shoes, sunglasses and camera. In addition, the suitcase holds interesting and unique items collected on the journey such as souvenirs from the various civilizations.

SELF-PROMOTIONAL PACKAGE For my promotional package I created a pattern of my own, a pattern that represents me in a way that I love simplicity and structure. The box is made and created with an environmentally friendly material of white cardboard. The package will serve as a holder of tea bags labeled with different aspects of me and different skills I’ve got as a graphic designer. The various colors of tea labels are the different types of tea.

SAVE THE DATE

In this project the goal was to promote the date palm festival and to create a package that will be used as giveaway in the festival. Dates palms are one of the oldest and probably from the only fruit trees that grew in the Arabian Peninsula. Date palms played an important role in the life of our ancestors and heritage.

TYPOGRAPHY

FUSION TYPE-FACE Fusion is a typeface I created based and inspired from Emirati culture, the blend of past and future, modern and classic, young and old. This typeface is a combination of the beautiful elements of ‘Burqa’ ‘iqal’, traditional and Arabian jewelery blended with the new infrastructure of Dubai. Type is something we’re exposed to in a routine basis and we’re somehow leaning toward reading Latin more than Arabic. My type face will be reaching out with the idea of older generation vs. Youth modern culture specifically in Dubai pulling an Arabian thematic style.

CITY POSTERS This assignment was to create posters that reflects cities. The first step was to explore Dubai visually through certain terms. As a collaboration project we communicated with students in San Francisco to create a poster that reflects their city. They provided us with information and images to get inspired.

Dubai poster is the way I see my city. Its not all about the fancy modern buildings its about the heritage, the transformation and the dream of our ancestors.

San Francisco is famous for the bay bridge, I wanted to portray that in my poster. The red Symmetrical bridge created with typography.

EVENT POSTERS This project was about creating posters for a certain event and for a certain persona. I was assigned to create posters for children of the reading age.

This poster represents an event for kids of the reading age. My approach was to create a friendly composition for kids to enjoy and be attracted to go to this event.
