UTAH STEALTH Saturday May 3rd, Dixie traveled north to take on the defending champs utah stealth in a rematch of last years AAA championship. It was back and forth all night until Dixie finally ended the scoring on a broken 4th and 5 run play that turned into a 50 yard touchdown pass from Misi Tupe to Brennan Adams to seal a 43-39 win. Stealth got off to a poor start having a fumble on their first drive that Dixie capitalized on in 1 play, a 50 yard scamper from QB Misi Tupe who finished with 22 carries for 164 yards and 2 rushing TD’s, on the next drive the stealth went 3 and out and an errant snap over the punters head resulted in a short field where Dixie capitalized again. From there the Stealth woke up and stormed back on the next drive with IK Ubani breaking off a 40 yard run up the middle for a score, the defense held strong and the stealth were back in business, this time Jeff Wissler hit big play receiver Ty West for a 65 yard touchdown. tying the score at 14. on the next drive Greg Tichen came up with a big interception setting the stealth up with good field position, 5 plays later Wissler hit Sam Thomas for a 5 yard touchdown extending the lead 21-14. Stealth were able to add another field goal right as time expired in half 1 to take a 24-14 lead.

Dixie came out and scored on their opening possession narrowing the gap 24-21 but the Stealth offense was still rolling driving down the field scoring a touchdown capped off by Phil Te’o pushing the lead to 31-21. Here is where the momentum swung in favor of dixie they were able to score on their next drive on a 45 yard touchdown strike to a wide open adams making the score 31-29 after a successful 2 point conversion. on the following kick return the stealth return man fumbled the kick giving the Rebels prime field position. 3 plays later Misi threw another touchdown strike taking the lead 36-31 a few drives later the stealth mounted a long drive capped off by another Wissler to Thomas touchdown, capped off by a 2 point conversion by the same duo to regain the lead at 39-36. And that’s when things got crazy, the stealth defense held strong at the 50 yard line forcing the rebels into a 4th and 5 situation, and with the snap over Tupe’s head he managed to scoop it up break 2 tackles and fire a ball down field to an open Adam’s who took it the rest of the way taking the lead back for good this time at 43-39. The Stealth had a final drive in which they were able to march down to the 15 yard line but Jeff wissler was sacked on the final play allowing the clock to run out. The Stealth have a bye this next week, and will return to action on May 16th Friday 7pm at Davis HS, while the Rebels also have a bye before they make the long trip up to Great Falls Montana.
