Choosing sustainable and local material:

• Bamboo is locally available in almost all regions in Bangladesh.

• bamboo is accepted to be a sustainable material in terms of both climatic consideration and durability.

• the green corrugated iron we are proposing to use in the roofing of this building is made of recyclable material. And also heat resistant.

Rainwater collection system:

• installing rainwater collection system in a community space like this makes it self contained in a way. This water can even be recycled immediately as to drink directly.

• the roof is treated and slightly inclined in the back to collect water directly from the roof.

• a PVC pipe is connected to numbers of interconnected earthen reservoirs.

Introduction of Accessibility in Rural context :

As being a part of a third world country, including accessibility in rural context is more of a luxury while they can hardly manage a homestead. But most accidents happening to the elder citizens are related to accessible issues. Our attempt is to introduce them to theses issues using local and affordable materials. These small sensitivity towards individuals can be a great step for the whole rural scenario.
