NYUAD’s current exhibition ‘But We Cannot See Them: Tracing a UAE Art Community, 1988-2008’ sheds light on one of the country’s most important artistic communities. Often referred to as ‘the five’, works of its most notable members: Hassan Sharif, Abdullah A l Saad i, Moha m med K a zem, Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim and Hussain Sharif, lesser-known members such as Nujoom Alghanem and Vivek Vilasini, and the new generation of Emirati artists, represented by Ebtisam Abdulaziz, are on display.
