Less is more. I always thought I was creative enough, that vision and imagination was all we needed to become great designers. After this class, I can see how wrong I was. Yes, if you don’t have the talent, it becomes harder. But if you don’t have a creative process, design just becomes flat, plain and questionable. We don’t want flat or questionable, we want thought-provoking design that brings no doubts on every choice taken. In my design classes II learnt how to go from point A to point D by not skipping all the points in between. I understood the importance of revisions and critiques, and most importatly I understood the key role that the seven elements of design played in every piece of work I’ve done for my classes. I also became aware that good design does not translate as too much design. Good design is simple, wellgrounded, undisputable and aesthetic. Since the very first project I started seeing better results when turned sketches into refined assignments. I saw progress through a process that I thought is was immediate. It is not immediate and it does not always come at the first try. When I finally understood the concept of creative process, it came to me: design is about pushing yourself. Pushing your boundaries of creativity, leaving your comfort zone and rethinking development, freeing

ideas, multiplying them and turning them into visual elements. II started seeing things differently in design. I then saw type as shape, emptiness as space, color as an attribute. I realized that analysis and information are also very important. A designer who does not understand its client’s brand will never be able to transmit its real identity and value. Even though creativity comes spontaneously, it is progressive by nature; new ideas inspire even newer ones. As the initial images and text develop, minor adjustments need to be made; a phrase can be reworded to have more impact or an image adjusted to add more interest. Creativity has no endpoint, and truth is I understood that is always important to know when enough is enough.
