The mission of the Bibb County Parks & Recreation Department is to create recreational opportunities for growth and enhancement by developing diverse services and programs that promote citizen involvement and a strong sense of community while striving to increase the social, cultural, and physical well-being of its residents and visitors. City Parks The Macon-Bibb County Parks have long been a source of joy and quality of life for the citizens of Macon and Bibb County - for well over 100 years. Many families enjoy the old fashioned baseball and football games each year evoking memories of earlier days. Macon and Bibb County residents have opportunities to explore thousands of acres of parks and open space, enjoy the beauty of nature trails, or immerse themselves in one of our creative arts courses at one of our well maintained facilities. For those that like to savor the good things in life without feeling rushed, visit one of our many parks today!

Special Events

Recreation Centers Macon-Bibb County Parks and Recreation is also home to some unique recreation facilities in addition to our parks and community centers. Bowden Golf Course, Lake Tobesofkee, the Macon Dog Park, Tattnall Square Park are just a few! Give us a call today to see what Macon Bibb Parks and Recreation can do for you!

Holiday Card Making Workshop Are you artsy? Do you like to make things? Then join us December 15th for our Holiday Card Printmaking Workshop! Macon Bibb Parks & Rec is teaming up with Macon Arts to host a free workshop for artists ages 14-adult to make their own holiday cards and learn various printmaking techniques! For more information and to register contact Ellen Banas at 478-751-7694. Space is limited, sign up today! Adult Basketball The holidays, a time for family and giving...and eating, sometimes too much! Combat all that pie by getting your friends together and joining our adult basketball league! Registration is going on now thru Dec. 21st. League play begins Jan. 9th For more information contact: Armand Burnett 478-751-7638. Dance & Creative Movement On Dec. 15th from 12:00-2:00 Jayla Harris of Kali Dance Studio will be instructing a dance event at the LH Williams Community Center. This event is free and open to the public! Be sure to bring a water bottle and comfortable shoes. For more information call 478-751-7037! Youth Basketball & Cheerleading Registration for youth basketball and cheerleading is going on now thru December 15th for children ages 5-17. The cost is $30.00 per child. Contact our Youth Athletics Coordinator, Jamal Harris at 478-751-7973 for more information!

On-going Programs Each community center has a variety of rental facilities including meeting and banquet rooms, outdoor pavilions and athletic fields. A few of them also have hiking trails, lakes, and pools. Centers provide special monthly events as well as weekly educational, athletic, cultural arts, and community driven programs. Give them a call or drop by to see what is going on in your community! Bloomfield Park 4115 Lions Pl. (478) 781-6000 Drop n’ Shop– Dec. 17th-21st from 6:00-8:00pm bring your kids to Bloomfield Park for arts and athletics while you are getting that last minute holiday shopping done! Mommy & Me Christmas Crafts-Every Wednesday in December enjoy time with your kids while participating in a holiday themed craft!

East Macon Park 3326 Ocmulgee East Blvd. (478) 751-9271 Chili Cook-Off Saturday January 5th join us from 12-5 for this free event! The winner will receive a trophy, $50 Home Depot Gift Card, and bragging rights!

Frank Johnson Recreation Center 2227 Mercer University Dr. (478) 751-9274 Adult Aerobics– Every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at Noon. Adult Dance– Mondays at 6:30pm. Don’t forget to bring comfortable shoes and water!

Freedom Park 3301 Roff Ave. (478) 751-9248 You Go Girl– Meets Monday’s at 5:30. If you know a young lady, ages 14-18 who needs to get involved in more than just hanging out give us a call! Family Night– Bring the family and join us for quality time Fridays from 6-8!

Winter Break Day Camp Be sure to checkout the community centers Winter Break Day Camp! During Bibb County Public Schools breaks Macon Bibb County Parks and Recreation offers day camps to keep your kids off the streets!

The Senior Center 1283 Adams St. (478) 751-2790 The senior center has a wide variety of programs daily from fitness, arts and crafts, foreign language, dance, and the list goes on and on! To inquire give us a call Monday-Friday 9-3.

After-School Program Did you know that Macon-Bibb Parks & Recreation offers free after-school programs? Each one of our community centers offers an after-school program for children (6-18) from 3:30-6:00pm daily. Not only with your child receive homework help and tutoring but they will also be participating in educational games, athletics, and arts activities! Contact your community center to day to inquire about this great opportunity for your child!
