Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Cask 23 2000 $115.50 Wine Enthusiast 93 Terrific stuff, a blend of fruit from Fay and SLV that’s creamy and supple—just what you expect texturally from Stag’s Leap District Cabernet. Knockout aromas are slightly floral and cedary, artfully blending tobacco and black currants, while the flavors are pure plum, vanilla and spice. Chewy and rich on the finish, suggesting that although delicious now, it should hold up in the cellar just fine. February 2004
Wine Spectator 91 Well-balanced, with hints of beefy currant, bay leaf and bell pepper offset by rich toasty oak and an underlying sense of elegance, finishing with delicacy and grace. Drink now through 2012. May 2004 This is the flagship wine of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, one of the icons of Napa Valley, and the wine that won the famous 1976 Paris Tasting. It basically put Napa Valley on the wine map. Go to www.cask23.com to learn more. The original release price of this wine was $150.00.
