From the Editor Flower-watching is a soothing pleasure. It distracts from dwelling on harsher realities, like vanishing years. From the first snowdrops to the roses, to the later beauties, flowers in all their multicoloured, multifaceted glory form an ever-moving triumphant procession throughout the year. For those who would listen, they are accompanied by music, the music of the birds; yes, but also the music of the bees. I sit beside my laburnum tree when it’s in magnificent full bloom and tune into the humming of myriad bees. Open your ears and listen too, for bees are under threat, like so many other invaluable species in our sad world. Listen while you can, and be charmed. Flora Selwyn
