ADVENTURE being accepted and the space is being shared, so we all can enjoy our sport in the water. M: Do you prefer kiteboarding alone or accompanied by someone? J: With someone, of course. If you do a trick and nobody sees you it’s as if you hadn’t done it, ha, ha. M: Is it financially easy to start out in kite? J: To tell the truth, it’s quite an expensive sport and I come from a family of 5 siblings. At the beginning I had to count on the support from friends who lent me even the wetsuit. My mother had to make real sacrifices for me to have my first kite. Then sponsors came, whom I’m really thankful to. But for them, I don’t know if I would have been able to carry on with this sport. M: And soon after starting out, were you already competing? J: To tell the truth, I was. I can’t understand sport without competition, it makes me give the best of myself. The adrenaline of competition, the tension of every seven minute round puts pressure on you and makes you crush everything. While competing I have been able to do lots of rounds without falling a single time. M: Were you expecting the good results obtained in the European championship in France?
J: Not at all, I was about not to take part in it and I got the second position. It was really exciting. M: And what about the Appletiser contest? J: It was also a surprise. You called them and told them about your dreams. The prize for winners was 6000€ to help them make their dreams come true. I took part in it and I won. Thanks to that I could travel and take part in some international events, and now I can go to Brazil on a trip in October. M: what would you advise to those starting out in this sport? J: Not to be afraid and practise it very carefully. I call upon the girls to dare to practise it. Up to now there were very few girls in this world and now a boom is taking place. There are even champion girls whose tricks are very close to those of boys’. I think that when the number of girls grows we’ll end up beating them, ha, ha...
