Parliament Complex Tirana, Albania The new Parliament Complex in Tirana is a 40,000 square meters National Government building. The center of the project is the Parliament’s Plenary Hall, the seat of democracy. It has the shape of an Eagle’s nest in the heart of the public square. The auditorium is carved out in the ground like an antique amphitheatre. Above the nest the Albanian Eagle rises up to form a giant umbrella that protects the people under its wings. Public life takes place in the filtered daylight under the roofstructure. The Parliament Office is a separate building shaped as a large grandstand that forms the backdrop of the Parliament Square. In collaboration with Neutelings Riedijk Architects. 2011

Miscellaneous 244x122: How to take a plate of 244x122 to an other dimension? Well, you spirally cut the plate, so maximal use of material strenght is shown, space is created and a dialog with the surrounding becomes possible. Simple but clever. 2007
