Days come and go; Time passes by; Two years gone and I still cry; I miss everything about you and I still talk to you everyday; in some ways my loves feels deeper today than when it was new; These years without you have made me acutely aware of just how blessed and fortunate we were to have been allowed to share so much love and happiness together while you were here. Until we meet again, you will remain forever in my heart.

The “Passion of Christ” The Purpose Driven Life

A group of us from our church attended the premier showing of the “Passion of Christ” - we all wept with emotional anguish as we witnessed Christ’s ordeal of suffering and crucifixion! According to Scripture, God was in Christ, suffering the crucifixion for the sake of humankind. This incarnation event was the pivotal point in history and creation. Mel Gibson (in spite of his recent drunken-driving episode) was said by notable church leaders to have been inspired and ordained by God to produce the “Passion.” The movie cost many millions of dollars to make. Many people have yet to see and experience the film for various reasons such as not being sure they could endure or “handle” the awfulness of Christ’s beating and torture, or just not wanting to be confronted with the meaning and purpose of the “Passion.” There is a poem that goes: “There is a man on the cross. I cannot stand to hear him cry. I must go and take him down. A voice came to me and said `You cannot take him down until every man, woman, and child knows that there is a man on the cross.”’ My fellow Madison County neighbors, I believe that the most purpose-driven decision you could ever make in your life is to go and see the Man on the Cross - the “Passion!” You can purchase the video at Wal-mart for less than $10, rent it, or borrow it from the library. A book by John Piper, “50 Reasons Why Christ Came to Die” is highly recommended reading as a complement to the “Passion.” The book is available at Sacred Melody bookstore. Your friend and neighbor, Don J. Wheeler See my previous letter “The Purpose Driven Life” that appeared in the “Hi Neighbor”

Luke 24-Verses 28-32 $ paint a touching picture of Jesus eating supper with Cleopas and the other disciple. Remember, they still don’t know who he is. They think they’ve stumbled upon a stranger who knows everything there is to know about the Bible. They have no idea it is Jesus. There is one little phrase in verse 28 that we should not overlook. Jesus “acted as if he were INC. going farther.” The word FARM AND HARDWARE, “acted” a thought Themeans Way A“pretended.” Farm Store What Should be... that is. that we will ask him to stay. He seems to leave us behind so that we will seek him all the more. Those days when we feel alone and confused are part of God’s plan to wean us away from the things of the world and bring us to a place where we say, “O Lord, it is you and you alone that I seek.” Note what happens next: 1) Jesus comes in when he is invited. 2) He eats with them. 3) He vanishes as soon as he is recognized. Note this carefully. Jesus disappears, but not until his disciples recognize him. Think about it this way: 1) He came in because they asked him.

2) He broke bread that he might have fellowship with them. 3) He left because they no longer needed his personal presence. Why did he leave so suddenly? The answer is, he didn’t leave them at all. He simply became invisible. Leaving implies a change of geography, but it’s not as if Jesus moved to a different location. He appeared to them on the road but their eyes were kept from recognizing him. Even when he taught them the Scriptures, he still did not reveal himself to them. Only in the course of sharing a meal together did Cleopas and his friend recognize who he was. And then he vanished.

That doesn’t mean he left them. It simply means they could no longer visibly see him. This is the point of the whole story. Just because you don’t see Jesus doesn’t mean he isn’t there. Just because you can’t feel him doesn’t mean he has left you.

Just because you think you are alone doesn’t mean he is no longer by your side. Once you know that Jesus is alive, you have certainty in your heart. There is no need for him to stay longer. He stays long enough for them to believe but no longer. There are times when we all say, “Lord Jesus, it would be wonderful if you would stay a while longer.” And the Lord answers back, “My child, I am with you even though you think I’m gone.” Where is Jesus when we need him? He is with us even though he seems to leave us. This is the profound insight of our text. Because Jesus is alive, he is with us even when we don’t know it. He is with us when we think we are walking alone through the dark valleys of life. And even when we have

Derivative Markets

(Or How To Delude Oneself Into Believeing You Have Lots Of Money Only To Find Out You Don’t But There’s A Great Way For You To In The End... Suckers!!!)

Easily Understandable Explanation of Derivative Markets

Heidi is the proprietor of a bar in Detroit. She realizes that virtually all of her customers are unemployed alcoholics and, as such, can no longer afford to patronize her bar. To solve this problem, she comes up with a new marketing plan that allows her customers to drink now, but pay later. She keeps track of the drinks consumed on a ledger (thereby granting the customers loans). Word gets around about Heidi’s “drink now, pay later” marketing strategy and, as a result, increasing numbers of customers flood into Heidi’s bar. Soon she has the largest sales volume for any bar in Detroit. By providing her customers freedom from immediate payment demands, Heidi gets no resistance when, at regular intervals, she substantially increases her prices for wine and beer, the most consumed beverages. Consequently, Heidi’s gross sales volume increases massively. A young and dynamic vice-president at the local bank recognizes that these customer debts constitute valuable future assets and increases Heidi’s borrowing limit. He sees no reason for any undue concern, since he has the debts of the unemployed alcoholics as collateral.

These securities are then bundled and traded on international security markets. Naive investors don’t really understand that the securities being sold to them as AAA secured bonds are really the debts of unemployed alcoholics. Nevertheless, the bond prices continuously climb, and the securities soon become the hottest-selling items for some of the nation’s leading brokerage houses. One day, even though the bond prices are still climbing, a risk manager at the original local bank decides that the time g

and the smart bombs. But foreign troops are not enthusiastic about working too closely with Afghan soldiers or police. That’s because the Afghans have much lower standards and are often corrupt. Afghan leadership is usually equally inept and corrupt. Afghan civilians will often turn to the foreign troops for justice when Afghan security forces commit crimes (which can range from theft to rape and murder, plus widespread drug use). The only positive aspect of this is that the Taliban have the same problems. While the Taliban are supposed to be a religion based combat organization, young Afghans with guns all tend to act the same. Taliban leaders who try too hard to impose discipline and good behavior on their guys, sometimes have fatal accidents. Moreover, the Taliban are reluctant to crack down on opium and heroin use among their fighters. The drugs are great for morale, and discipline was never very good to begin with. No solutions in Afghanistan are simple, easy or universally effective.

Helmand province (where most of the drugs are produced), no one wants to actually burn the poppy fields or destroy the drug labs. That’s because many in Helmand have been getting rich off the drug trade, and will put up a determined fight to protect their income source. The drug business is so pervasive in Helmand, that nearly everyone is involved. So commanders of foreign troops ask that Afghan troops do the dirty work, so the local tribal leaders will still be willing to talk to foreigners and negotiate. But the Afghan troops don’t want to burn the poppy fields and other drug facilities, because there will be a lot of fighting, and that is better handled using the military capabilities only the foreign troops possess. One solution has been joint operations, where the foreign troops mainly bring cash, to compensate the farmers (the largest group who suffer losses from drug production destruction),

Cell Phones - Would You Believe It?

The Taliban are concerned about their survival, especially once they realized that the American “surge offensive has been taking place even though most of the 30,000 additional troops had not even arrived yet. So whatever hurt the Americans are inflicting now, will be getting worse for the rest of the year. Then there’s the damn cell phones. For several years, the Taliban have been resisting the spread of cell phone service. Most Afghan adults now have cell phones. The Taliban know, from the experience in Afghanistan, Algeria, Iraq and Gaza, that cell phones are a deadly menace.

This was most recently noticed in Iraq, where cell phone use went from nearly zero in 2003, to over a third of the adult population. Cell phones played key a role in crushing Islamic terrorism in Algeria. While cell phones gave the bad guys better communications, it also made them vulnerable to eavesdropping. It gets worse. Cell phones enabled people to express their dislike for terrorist violence by quickly and discreetly reporting the location and activity of local terrorists. The bad guys have found no countermeasure for this. Trying to collect all the cell phones in the vicinity, or blowing up cell

phone towers, merely makes terrorists more hated, and drives more people to risk their lives fighting the terrorists. This is what has been happening in Afghanistan, where the Taliban have made themselves even more unpopular by trying to halt the spread of cell phone service. It’s been noted that, in areas where the Taliban are most powerful, there is the least cell phone service. So the government security forces strive to get cell phone service expanded in areas where they have recently driven the Taliban out. The problem is that people like cell phones, a lot. Moreover, while the Islamic radicals can make a religious point in trying to halt the use of music and video, there is no such excuse for going after cell phones. It’s purely a matter of self-preservation. So far, the terrorist groups have been unable to stop the spread of cell phones, only slow it down.

Marjah, which the Taliban controlled for years, has proved to be the source of continuous defeats. After having their forces driven out of the city by foreign and Afghan troops last month, the Taliban sought to regain control via a terror campaign. But over the last few weeks, under heavy guard, cell phone service has been greatly expanded there. The Taliban are going after the cell phone companies with bribes and threats, hoping to get service restricted, without telling the Americans. But cell phones are too popular to be kept out. And once people have them, the tips on Taliban activity increase enormously. People are particularly eager to report roadside bombs or suicide bombers. These weapons kill mostly civilians, even though the Taliban goal is usually foreign troops. The Taliban are also fighting hard to keep any kind of economic aid efforts out of the city. That includes health care and education. The Taliban have a hard time accepting the fact that their program and goals have little popular support.

The 5 primary trouts are the rainbow, brook, brown, cutthroat and lake trout. Brown trout are considered the most difficult to catch and brookies are the easiest. Pure cold water is key to survival of the trouts and the brook trout is the most sensitive to temperature. The others are comfortable in slightly warmer waters. Trout Fishing Lakes In New York: Plenty of trout water in New York to keep any angler happy. Most streams, rivers and creeks have trout and the Adirondack area has miles of excellent waters. Click here to find information about trout stocking in New York. Major lakes in NY with healthy populations of trout include Ashokan Reservoir, Canandaigua Lake, Cannonsville Reservoir, Cayuga Lake, Cranberry Lake, Great Sacandaga Lake, Indian Lake, Keuka Lake, Lake Champlain, Lake Erie, Lake George, Lake Ontario, Otsego Lake, Owasco Lake, Pepacton Reservoir, Piseco Lake, Raquette Lake, Seneca Lake, Schroon Lake, Skaneateles Lake, Tupper Lake, Union Falls Pond and Upper Saranac Lake. The New York state record brook trout came from the HaDe-Ron-Dah Wilderness Area. The NY state record brown trout and rainbow were caught from Lake Ontario. Lake Erie produced the state record lake trout. Rainbow Trout: Oncorhynchus mykiss Known for its tasty pink flesh, beauty and gameness, the rainbow trout is a favorite among the vast majority of trout fishing anglers. It also appeals to the fly fisherman as it can be tempted to take properly presented flies as well as other baits and lures. It feeds on small insects, minnows, crustaceans and worms. Rainbow trout fishing is fun for both sport and dining pleasures. In waters that allow such migration the rainbow trout will remain in streams until it reaches 6 to 9 in length and then travel to lakes or oceans where it will bulk up and then return to the streams or rivers to spawn. Steelhead trout are rainbow trout which have adapted to the salt water environment. Fishing for steelhead is very similar to fishing for rainbows. However in winter the steelhead typically prefer spoons or bait rather than flies. Brook Trout: Salvelinus fontinalis Brook trout are found in clear cold waters which seldom

exceed 68 degrees. As the waters to warm, the brook trout population begins to diminish. Its primary food source is small insects, mollusks, crustaceans and other small fishes. Fishing for brook trout is the easiest of all the trouts. Look for gravel bottom streams with a moderate current, plenty of waterfalls and ponds which include rocks and cover. Overhanging trees offer additional shade, attract insects and offer protection from preying birds. Duplicate their food source and you are in business. Brown Trout: Salmo trutta The brown trout can tolerate slightly warmer waters than the brook trout and have taken over some of the fisheries formerly inhabited by the brookies. It is much more wary than other trouts which help ensure its longevity in waters where

other trouts get fished out. When brown trout fishing look for quiet water with lots of cover. Logs, under cuts in the bank, rock shelves, overhanging trees and brush are some of the brown trouts favorite hiding places. The larger they get, the more wary they become and are more inclined to feed at night under the protection of darkness. Brown trout feed on worms, minnows, insects and crustaceans. Dry fly fishing for pan-sized browns is a favorite technique as they rise well to these crafty presentations. Larger browns tend to feed more on flesh and favor nutritious crustaceans, worms or small fishes. When fly fishing for large brown trout use wet flies which mimic the local natural baitfish. Lake Trout: Salvelinus namaycush The lake trout is by far the largest of the trouts. It lives in deep cold lakes and is also known as Great Lakes trout, Mackinaw

In early spring these fish can be taken in the lake shallows on dry flies, wet flies and other slow moving presentations. Once the surface waters warm the lake trout retreats to deep water where trolling with heavy tackle is the preferred m e t h o d . S p o o n s and baitfish imitating lures worked near the bottom provide the best results. As summer w a r m s t h e w a t e r, cowbells and other flashing devices trolled deep often can get you to the depth where the lake trout stalk. ___________

As the ambulance takes the body away, Ronnie says, ‘Well, damn, someone should go and tell his wife. Donnie says, ‘OK, I’m pretty good at that sensitive stuff, I’ll do it.’ Two hours later, he comes back carrying a case of Budweiser. Ronnie says, ‘Where did you get that beer, Donnie?’ ‘Cooter’s wife gave it to me,’ Ronnie replies.

In addition, our paper is now online in it's totality at www.madisoncountycourier.com, allowing us to be seen by more people in more ways, thereby giving our advertiser's businesses much more exposure than ever before. We will continue to saturation mail to every Rural Delivery address in our circulation area. By implementing this strategy we have created a new delivery system that's much more in step with today's circumstances.
