Welcome to the Louisiana Youth Football Division I - FCS Championships, 2011 Quest For The Community Cup, starting with Wildcard Round November 8th–10th (@ 7pm) at Scotlandville High, Olympia & Memorial Stadiums and 1st & 2nd Rounds November 12th (@ 9am) & November 13th (@ 2pm) at Scotlandville & McKinley High Schools and Olympia & Memorial Stadiums, with THE FINALS being played November 19th at Memorial Stadium, starting @ 11am. We appreciate any support you may be able to offer to make this an even greater event. The greatest national treasure of our country is our children. Come out and help us showcase this through our recognition of excellence. Background Info: In our inaugural season (2005), we had 44 registered teams, approximately 1100 registered youth (ranging from 7 yrs old to 13 yrs old), and approximately 300 volunteer coaches. Now in our 7th season, 2011 kicked off with 70 registered teams, over 2600 registered Student-Athletes (football players & cheerleaders/dancers, ranging from 5 yrs old to 13 yrs old), and approximately 360 volunteers, 280 of whom are CERTIFIED volunteer football coaches. These numbers are impressive, even for established youth programs; so we are excited about our accomplishments thus far and delighted to share this with the citizens of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, & the United States. Louisiana Youth Football expanded its’ outreach of putting youth back into football by expanding the league with two levels of play, “Division I - FCS and Division II - FBS”. Louisiana Youth Football season’s culmination will be the Division I - FCS Championship Series, 2011 Quest For The Community Cup. This championship series is a playoff system designed to determine our league champions for all age groups (Division A: 7-8, Division AA: 9-10, Division AAA: 11-12). New to the Series is the D I vs D II Showdown; thus giving more teams an opportunity to play in this magnificent Championship environment. The championship trophy at stake in this quest for excellence is named the Community Cup in honor of our ongoing effort to create “One Community In Unity”. Louisiana Youth Football expanded its’ outreach of putting youth back into football by expanding the “DLeague” Division, with the “C-League: 4” Division. This Division is the developmental division for players’ ages: 4. This Division is a readapted youth tackle football instructional and developmental playing method for the young player ages 4. In order to receive a full experience and understanding of the game, every participant received a wide range of training in a number of positions. This Division is designed exactly like the “DLeague: 5-6” Division. These Divisions will NOT have a playoff system; however, teams from the C-League & D-League will provide additional excitement to our Championships with exhibition games throughout the day, starting @ 11am. We will also be presenting the Louisiana Youth Cheerleading 2011 Showcase. This segment of our championship events will feature ALL of our cheerleading & dance squads performing individual squad routines, as well as combined routines throughout the championship games. The showcase will start @ 12pm. Any student athlete (Football Players & Cheerleaders) who maintained a 3.0 or better GPA during the season was named to the Louisiana Academy 2011 All State Academic Team or Squad for each division. These student athletes were nominated by their coach for consideration. An official report card or progress report accompanied the nomination. This year, the Louisiana Academy 2011 All State Academic Teams & Squads will be recognized during halftime of each Louisiana Youth Football Championship Series championship game on December 4th at Memorial Stadium, starting @ 3pm. Again this year, we will be presenting The Hats' Off Sportsmanship Award and The Scholastic Dream Team Award. The Hats’ Off Sportsmanship Award is an award honoring sportsmanship displayed by a team (players, coaches, & fans included) in each Division & Conference. These award winners are selected by the Officials. The Scholastic Dream Team Award is an award honoring the team with the highest GPA in each Division & Conference. These award winners will also be recognized during halftime of each Louisiana Youth Football Championship Series championship game. Visit our website for more Season & Championship Series info: www.LouisianaYouthFootball.com

LOUISIANA YOUTH FOOTBALL

WHAT DOES LOUISIANA YOUTH FOOTBALL PROVIDE OR REQUIRE? • Standardized rules that all players and cheerleaders follow; • Eligibility verification of ALL football players; • Regular Season Schedule & Venues; • Championship Series Football Playoff Format and Cheer Showcases; • Coaches Certification and Background Checks; • Certified High School Game Officials; • Access for member organizations to purchase discounted uniforms and equipment; • $1,000,000 Liability Insurance for organization's game and practice fields; • Academic Award programs; WHAT AUTHORITY DOES LOUISIANA YOUTH FOOTBALL HAVE? Louisiana Youth Football’s Director & Council have the authority to enforce all rules, regulations, policies and procedures with verbal warnings, fines, suspensions and terminations of membership both at the individual level and organizational level. Some of the things that Louisiana Youth Football has little to no authority over: • Regulating team registration fees (organizations set their fees based on the area they are in); • Regulating team refund policies (organizations set their own policies); • Regulating team playing time (Louisiana Youth Football is not a "must play" league, though strongly encouraged); • Regulating team fundraisers (some organizations do them and some do not); • Get involved in any internal operations of an organization. Exception: if an organization violates a Louisiana Youth Football rule then Louisiana Youth Football can step in and enforce the rule with suspensions, fines and anything else that is determined appropriate by the Director & Council. The Louisiana Youth Football season spans the months of July through November and into December for those who make it to the Championship Series - Finals. • Preseason is the third week of July through the month of August. • Regular season is September into November. • Playoffs are the month of November and into December. There is no limit to the amount of practice an organization can put your children through. That is between the parents and the organization. In most cases, organizations practice Monday through Friday (roughly 10 hours) the first 2 to 3 weeks of preseason and then drop to 3-4 days a week (roughly 6-8 hours), after that for the remainder of the season. The organization you sign up with will lay out what their schedules and routines will be. There is no Mandatory Play rule in Louisiana Youth Football. While Louisiana Youth Football believes all children should have the opportunity to play, it is up to the individual organizations to set their own policy. Our quarters are longer for most of our age brackets which gives the coaches more time to get the children playing time. Our Mercy rule (where the score gets out of hand) does not end a game or take the ball away from one side. Instead the clock runs, but this is time that coaches can make mass substitutions to get children playing time. If a game is in Mercy rule and children still don't get playing time, then Louisiana Youth Football Game Officials will step in to take potential action. Louisiana Youth Football currently does not recognize or enforce any boundaries for the recruitment of youth or volunteers between organizations. Louisiana Youth Football does not allow organizations to put HOLDS on youth or volunteers unless they owe money or equipment to the organization. Louisiana Youth Football will mediate to get these situations handled as quickly as possible. Louisiana Youth Football is a "Competitive & Instructive" league; it is NOT "Recreational". Louisiana Youth Football is split into playing levels & age divisions: Division I – Championship Series / Division II – Bowl Series and C-League: 4, D-League: 5-6, A: 7-8, AA: 9-10, & AAA: 11-12. The C-League: 4 & D-League: 5-6 are VERY Instructive and A: 7-8, AA: 9-10, & AAA: 11-12 are VERY Competitive. Louisiana Youth Football does not allow tryouts of any sort for a child to make a football or cheer team. But, tryouts are allowed to determine what position that child will play or cheer at after they have made the team. Weight, color, or gender does not matter. Girls can play football. Louisiana Youth Football charges less than $900 for the season for all required fees per team. All fees are used to purchase the liability & accidental insurance for the organizations that Louisiana Youth Football provides, hire quality High School certified officials & site managers, purchase recognition awards for academic & athletic excellence, and to put the league games into very nice venues for Football. All fees are used for the betterment of the game of football for ALL participants (players, cheerleaders, coaches, & fans). Louisiana Youth Football is a 100% Volunteer ran program (excluding Game Officials). Football game gate fees are mandated to be $0 to $3 max during the season and Championship Series games.
