Created functionally to hide the gaps between the walls and windows/doors/ flooring/ceiling, moldings or trim also create beautiful visual transitions from space to space. They are basically wall jewelry and we love them. Beautifully utilized in this Fairbanks Ranch home and this Coronado beauty. Sean Caddell

THE NEW NORMAL Having separate guest quarters than can be fully contained, like this 1BR/1BA attached guest suite complete with separate entrance, kitchenette, and laundry closet, could be a real god send if someone in your home had to quarantine. It’s a concern we’ve not had to consider in the past but it’s definitely something to think about for the future.

BEAUTIFUL BALUSTERS

Back in the January issue I broke down the three main design elements of your staircase. Today we are going to show full appreciation to the baluster or spindle, these hold up the handrail. From left to right here you will see a beautiful double knuckle and basket design, stunning scroll work, and finally a fully custom showpiece.

CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE For those lucky enough to have a second home right now getaways are still possible. You could be lucky enough to escape to the fresh air on the North Oregon Coast at a stunning home on the water (far left). Or stay right here and transport to the Taj Majal (right). It’s all in your perspective! Barbara Maltman
