Halitosis or Bad Breath and How to Deal with it Bad breath has no geographic limitations. People in cities or in towns suffer alike. So irrespective of whether one stays in Delhi or in Jaipur, the problem is the same. The most common causes of bad breath are not brushing twice a day and not flossing after brushing. Yet, most people ignore these two basic things. However, there are some other common causes of bad breath and here are the ways to get rid of them.

Watch what you eat: Seems like common sense but ingredients such as garlic, onions and diet rich in fat such as meat and fish can lead to bad breath. Missing meals can also cause Dzhunger breathdz.

Solution: Eat more fibrous foods and taking acidic fruits such as oranges and lemons. Avoid skipping meals and increase your intake of water and juices. Dry mouth: Dry mouth might due to various reasons but the result is that saliva which is necessary to moisten and cleanse the plaque and prevent food sticking in the mouth can cause bad breath. The debris of food can decompose in the mouth and cause bad breath. Solution: Drink plenty of water and chew sugar-free chewing gums to increase saliva production.

Oral hygiene: As mentioned earlier, poor oral hygiene such as not flossing and brushing will increase bacterial growth and in turn cause bad breath. Solution: Brush twice a day to remove food particles caught in the mouth and between the teeth. Replace your toothbrush every two to three months and use floss to remove food particles and plaque. If you wear dentures, they need to be removed at night and cleaned thoroughly before put on again. Lifestyle: Alcohol, smoking, and chewing based products can cause bad breath too and reduce the ability to taste food. Solution: The best way is to quit all these habits. Medical History: Respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia, bronchitis, sinus infections, chronic acid reflux, constipation, and liver or kidney problems also cause bad breath. Solution: You need to consult a physician to treat these underlying problems which lead to bad breath. Pregnancy: Hormonal changes can also lead to bad breath. Solution: Consult your doctor to know more about this. Other causes: Poorly fitted dental appliances, yeast infections of the mouth, dental caries and gum problems can also cause bad breath. Solution: A bad taste in your mouth could be the first sign of gum disease or tooth decay. A regular dental check-up is advised to ensure that everything is in order. Mouthwash usage is another topic that we would like to touch upon here. Mouthwashes only temporarily mask bad breath and may not be a long-term solution. On the other hand, there are mouth-rinse products that really kill the germs that cause bad breath so be very careful in choosing a mouthwash. Be it a dentist in Delhi or a dentist in Jaipur or a dental clinic in Delhi, you should visit a dentist as soon as you feel some discomfort in your mouth.
