Back on Par Resort-style golf course communities are emerging from the rough created by the recession, with THE CLIFFS, a collection of seven private clubs and communities from Greenville, South Carolina, to Asheville, North Carolina, acting as the poster child. The Cliffs, which once had plans for a Tiger Woods-designed course, emerged from bankruptcy in 2012 with Arendale Holdings and now has buyers such as pro golfer MATT KUCHAR building there, says Robert Wright, managing partner of real estate. In 2014, The Cliffs experienced 190 real estate transactions totaling $85 million. Homesites range from $100,000 to $1 million, with homes from $400,000 to $3 million. Arendale, whose portfolio includes Toccoa’s CURRAHEE CLUB, a Georgia community acheiving golf accolades, has improved expectations. “We’re here for the long run,” says Wright.

ANNOUNCING THE 2015 SERENBE DESIGNER SHOWHOUSE Let the good times roll! The setting for the second annual SERENBE DESIGNER SHOWHOUSE has officially been announced, and it’s a French Creole–style lakefront home in Serenbe’s Grange neighborhood. The 3,700-square-foot home is designed by architect JAMES P. CURRAN, who drew inspiration from the symmetrical style of the late A. Hays Town. With a broad wood-shake shingle roof, a timber frame and French doors leading to a spacious back porch, the two-story abode will “have expansive views from the moment you enter,” says Curran. Built by MONTE HEWETT HOMES, the showhouse will be open to visitors between September 11 and October 4. atlantahomesmag.com/serenbe

CONTEMPORARY QUARTERS Noted architect BOBBY MCALPINE’s freshly renovated modern Midtown abode has hit the market. Built by late (and great) Atlanta architect HENRI JOVA, the 2,100-square-foot, three-bedroom home is “the best of midcentury modern contrasted with Bobby’s aesthetic for a timeless quality,” says listing agent Marc Castillo of Coldwell Banker. Contemporary updates include Carrara marble countertops in the kitchen—a material that was also introduced in the master bath, which has new vanities, a steam shower and Carrara bench; hinged metal shutters; and a custom glass door that pivots.
