Le prime lenti bifocali, risolte incollando la lunetta correttiva per presbiopia nella parte inferiore all’interno della lente per miopia, sono comparse verso la fine del 1700; la loro invenzione è attribuita al filosofo e scienziato Benjamin Franklin. The first bifocal lenses – obtained by gluing the corrective lunette for long-sightedness onto the lower part on the inside of the lens for short-sightedness – appeared at the end of the 18th century. The philosopher-cumscientist Benjamin Franklin is said to have been their inventor.
