Village Information

Bennick Barn is in Brinsea, a small hamlet which forms part of Congresbury. Congresbury is conveniently found with easy access to Bristol International Airport, the M5 Motorway and city of Bristol. The village itself is well served by several pubs, a popular restaurant named The Mediterranean, a country store, village store, Post Office, Tesco’s Express, an all-important Fish and Chip shop as well as a Country Club Hotel & Spa, several garden centres and Mendip Springs Golf Club.

Property types vary from period and newer build detached homes, with several working farms to the outskirts of the village. Walks along Congresbury Yeo and to Cadbury Hill Fort or Wavering Down can be enjoyed and easily accessed by the many public footpaths surrounding the area.

A short drive can take you to some beautiful restaurants including The Ethicuren – an ethically conscious modern British restaurant set within a walled garden with beautiful views towards the Mendip Hills. A short drive will also take you to the nearby lakes – Blagdon Lake and Chew Valley Lake. These popular tourist spots offer relaxing walks, places to picnic in the summer and a variation of water activities.

Outside, a formal garden with large patio terrace sits to the back of the home. This garden enjoys a southerly aspect and is enclosed by a stone wall to two sides. Established tress and planted borders provide colour all year around and also many places to sit and enjoy being outside. A picket fence and gate opens into a tranquil spot, somewhat hidden from the main garden with a pretty nature pond, fed by a natural spring and framed by a drystone wall.

The Ox Pen – currently used as a log store, provides the perfect opportunity for a separate annex, office or gymnasium. The barn already has planning permission granted to convert into a one bedroom annex with en-suite, sitting room, separate kitchen and linen store. This separate building enjoys a further section of garden with a selection of fruit trees and country views.

To the North East aspect of the buildings, a large field with an elevated bank to one side and stream with a row of trees to the other. This vast open level space offers the perfect opportunity for anyone wishing to keep some small livestock, a horse or perhaps holiday accommodation (subject to necessary planning permission).

Overall a beautiful property full of charm and character, offering a country setting with great potential and a convenient location.
