Little River Band

Jersey Boys

Don McLean

After having achieved great success in their native Australia in the mid 70’s, Little River Band then set their sights on the U.S. and broke into the American radio airwaves with their great songwriting, powerful vocals and guitar harmonies. The band quickly claimed their place as one of the great vocal bands of the ‘70s and 80’s. Between 1976 and 1983, chart success in America included a slew of powerful singles: “It’s a Long Way There,” “Help Is on Its Way,” “Happy Anniversary,” “Reminiscing,” “Lady,” “Cool Change,” “Lonesome Loser,” “The Night Owls,” “Take It Easy On Me,” “Man On Your Mind,” “We Two,” and “The Other Guy.”

“THE MOST EXCITING MUSICAL BROADWAY HAS SEEN IN YEARS.” –Chicago Tribune “THE CROWD GOES WILD!” –The New York Times

Always a bit of a troubadour, Don McLean developed his style of Folk music at an early age. In 1969, McLean recorded his first album, Tapestry, in Berkeley, CA. While student riots were going on outside the studio door, Don was singing “And I Love You So” inside. The transition to international stardom began in 1971 with the release of the album American Pie. The title single charted within a month of release and quickly ascended to #1 in the USA. The song is believed to be an impressionistic ballad inspired partly by the deaths of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson (The Big Bopper) in a plane crash in 1959. The second single from the album, “Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)” was

Worldwide album and CD sales now top 30 million. The band also set a record for having Top 10 hits for 6 consecutive years…the first band to achieve that mark. The current lineup brings new energy and arrangements to the classic hits, making new memories for the audience out of each live performance. It’s always fun to watch as people are swept up by the show’s vitality and the volume of hits from LRB’s history. You’ll see plenty of people mouthing the words…“I love this song…I forgot it was one of Little River Band’s hits!” www.littleriverband.com

They were just four guys from Jersey, until they sang their very first note. They had a sound nobody had ever heard…and the radio just couldn’t get enough of. But while their harmonies were perfect on stage, off stage it was a very different story—a story that has made them an international sensation all over again. Go behind the music and inside the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons in the Tony Award®-winning true-life musical phenomenon, JERSEY BOYS. From the streets of New Jersey to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, this is the musical that’s just too good to be true. FEATURING THE LEGENDARY TOP TEN HITS: “Sherry” • “Big Girls Don’t Cry” • “Walk Like A Man” • “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” • “December, 1963 (Oh What A Night)” www.jerseyboysinfo.com/tour JERSEY BOYS contains authentic, “profane Jersey language” and is recommended for ages 12+

inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s painting of “Starry Night.” As McLean studied a print of the painting, he realized that a song could be written about the artist through the painting. Other hits include “Crying,” “Castles in the Air,” “Wonderful Baby,” and more. www.don-mclean.com

Delight in an evening of R&B and Soul grandeur with two of the mainstays from that era —The Spinners with Little Anthony and The Imperials! Most often thought of as a Detroit R&B recording act, the classic group sound of legendary recording artists, The Spinners has never lost its universal appeal. Throughout the years they have sold millions of records and topped both the Pop and R&B charts with smash hits like “I’ll Be Around,” “Working my Way Back To You/Forgive Me, Girl,” “One of a Kind (Love Affair),” and “Then Came You.” Today, original member Henry Fambrough is joined onstage by lead singer Charlton Washington, high tenor Marvin Taylor, tenor Ronnie Moss, and bass singer Jessie Peck; a soul-infused 5-piece band, led by Keith Ferguson, backs them up. Approaching sixty years in the business, Jerome Anthony “Little Anthony” Gourdine was always known for his high-pitched, falsetto voice and has led the legendary group, Little Anthony and The Imperials. Little Anthony and The Imperials continues to amaze crowds with their rhythm and blues/soul/doo-wop vocals and their Top 40 hits including “Tears on my Pillow,” “Shimmy, Shimmy Ko-Ko Bop,” “Goin’ Out of my Head,” “Hurt So Bad,” and many more. And Little Anthony has still got it! His powerful and amazing vocal range coupled with some of the most ageless songs ever written transport the audience to a place where timeless music lives on forever.

The TEN Tenors “Home for the Holidays” Tour

The Oak Ridge Boys’ Christmas Celebration Tour

Shippensburg University Community Orchestra Fall Concert Conductor and director Mark Hartman will lead the Shippensburg University Community Orchestra in two classics of the orchestra repertoire from the classical and early romantic eras. Students, community members and professional guests will be joined by violinist Lin He who will perform the concerto in E Minor by Felix Mendelssohn, one of the greatest concertos ever written. Lin He has performed all over the country as a solo and chamber musician and is concertmaster of the Lake Charles Symphony in Louisiana. He made his Carnegie Hall debut in November, 2014. The orchestra will also perform one of the greatest symphonies by the inventor of the symphony, Franz Joseph Haydn, his final numbered symphony, known as the “London Symphony.”

Come home for the holidays with The TEN Tenors.

With a generous mix of festive favorites and modern holiday hits, The TEN Tenors will walk you through a musical winter wonderland that truly captures the essence of the holidays for the whole family, as well as many of the rock and classical songs that have made this group world famous. And there’s nowhere in the world The TEN Tenors would rather be performing this show than in the USA, during the holiday season. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the inception of The TEN Tenors. An amazing achievement for a group which started with a bunch of university mates wanting to earn extra pocket money while they were perfecting their craft at opera school. Back then none of them imagined that their idea, inspired by the three tenors, would become so popular for so long. The magic ingredient— introducing a contemporary repertoire with a tenorial twist. Of course the presentation of today’s shows has come a long way since those university days, but the core values remain the same with Aussie charm and an undeniable sense of good fun, the cornerstone of the group’s continued success. www.thetentenors.com

So Good for the Soul: A Tribute to the Music of Motown

America

So Good for the Soul is a non-stop, high energy trip down memory lane performed by a cast of 8 veteran entertainers and their band, including former members of The Jones, Main Ingredient, & The Marvelettes peppered with Broadway savvy performers who had leading roles in Dream Girls, Porgy & Bess, and Showboat. This amazing show features the songs America grew up with. Great attention to detail was paid by musical director Gary Kupper. The iconic Motown Sound was recreated down to the slightest vocal and musical nuances—to emulate American icons like Marvin Gaye & Tammie Terrell, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Lionel Richie, Mary Wells, and more. Sing, dance & celebrate the music of your life to songs like “My Girl,” “I Heard It Through The Grapevine,” “Reach Out,” “Shop Around,” “Dancin’ In The Street,” “Stop, In The Name Of Love,” “Ain’t Nothin’ Like The Real Thing,” “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)” & “Uptight”—nearly 30 non-stop hits in all! “Bring your dancing shoes and bring the whole family. This is a show for everyone.” exclaims the Entertainment Review.

Enjoying massive success early in their career, America earned their stripes as musical soldiers on the battlefield amidst the excess, craziness and chaos of the 70’s. Founding members, Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell (along with former band mate Dan Peek) met in high school in London in the late 1960s and quickly harmonized their way to the top of the charts on the strength of their signature song “A Horse with No Name.” America became a global household name and paved the way with an impressive string of hits following the success of their first #1 single. America’s journey has found them exploring a wide variety of musical terrain. Their best-known tunes, which also include “I Need You,” “Ventura Highway,” “Don’t Cross the River,” “Tin Man,” “Lonely People,” and “Sister Golden Hair” were cornerstones of 1970’s Top 40 and FM rock radio. Yet, beyond their impressive catalog of hits, listeners would discover there was always much more to America than surface perceptions. Forty plus years later, Beckley and Bunnell are still making music together, touring the world and thrilling audiences with their timeless sound. www.venturahighway.com

Close To You: The Music of The Carpenters

The Righteous Brothers

The Cat in the Hat

The Beach Boys

The Lovin’ Feelin’ is Back— The Righteous Brothers Live!

From the moment his tall, red-and-whitestriped hat appears around the door, Sally and her brother know that The Cat in the Hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat they have ever met. With the trickiest of tricks and the craziest of ideas, he is certainly fun to play with. And he turns a rainy afternoon into an amazing adventure. But what will Mum find when she comes home...? This program is approximately one hour in length, and is appropriate for grades K -4. Please note, all children and infants, regardless of age, must have a ticket. www.theatreworksusa.org

*VIP packages are also available for purchase. Visit The Beach Boys event page at luhrscenter.com for more information.

Considered one of the best vocalists of all time, Karen Carpenter captured the attention of a generation with her unabashedly catchy pop music. The Carpenters’ beautiful, memorable love songs topped the Billboard charts with more than a dozen number one hits. Close to You: The Music of The Carpenters brings these classics back to the stage with spot-on renditions of these familiar hits. Lead vocalist, Lisa Rock, and her 6-piece band are dedicated to creating a Carpenters experience like no other. Karen and Richard Carpenter often kept things simple on stage, performing as just a duo. But to create the full, rich sound we all love on their albums, they had several additional musicians join in, making lush arrangements and creating unforgettable music. Rock and her band bring you that same sound, with their production of Close to You: The Music of the Carpenters.

You’ll hear all the memorable, singalong hits like “Top of the World,” “Rainy Days and Mondays,” “We’ve Only Just Begun,” “I Won’t Last A Day Without You,” “Hurting Each Other,” and of course, “Close To You.” www.closetoyouonline.com

Blue-eyed soul pioneers The Righteous Brothers are back! With a string of #1 classics, including the most played song in radio history, “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’,” the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame duo of Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield topped the charts in four decades. After Bobby’s death in 2003, Bill Medley continued to perform to sold-out crowds around the world, but fans and friends pleaded with him to keep The Righteous Brothers alive. Says Medley…“No one could ever take Bobby’s place, but when I caught Bucky Heard’s show it all came together—I found the right guy to help me recreate the magic.” The concert experience features their biggest hits—“Lovin’ Feelin’,” “Soul & Inspiration,” “Unchained Melody,” “Rock and Roll Heaven,” Medley’s GRAMMYwinning Dirty Dancing theme “The Time of My Life,” and much, much more! www.righteousbrothers.com

season

You can capsulize most pop music acts by reciting how many hits they’ve had and how many millions of albums they’ve sold. But these conventional measurements fall short when you’re assessing the impact of The Beach Boys. To be sure, this band has birthed a torrent of hit singles and sold albums by the tens of millions. But its greater significance lies in the fact that it changed the musical landscape so profoundly that every pop act since has been in its debt. Mike Love’s role as the band’s front man sometimes overshadows his stature as one of rock’s foremost songwriters. “Surfin’,” The Beach Boys’ first hit came from his pen. With his cousin, Brian Wilson, Love wrote the classics “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “I Get Around,” “Help Me Rhonda,” “California Girls” and the GRAMMY nominated “Good Vibrations.” The Beach Boys are led by Mike Love and Bruce Johnston, who along with Jeffrey Foskett, Brian Eichenburger, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill and Scott Totten continue the legacy of the iconic American band. The Beach Boys play an astoundingly busy schedule of concerts, averaging 150 shows a year. Few, if any, acts can match The Beach Boys’ concert presence, spirit and performance. www.thebeachboys.com

Jay Leno

The Doo Wop Project

STOMP

Acclaimed TV late night show host, admired stand-up comedian, best-selling children’s book author, much-in-demand corporate speaker, lovable TV and movie voice-over artist, pioneering car builder and mechanic, and philanthropist… it’s no wonder that Jay Leno is widely characterized as “the hardest working man in show business.” And all this hard work certainly paid off handsomely: Jay Leno’s late night television ratings domination included two decades as the host of the #1-rated The Tonight Show with Jay Leno—he never lost a year in which he served as host. Leno has now taken his considerable talents and married them with his intense passion and unparalleled knowledge of cars as host of the CNBC series Jay Leno’s Garage now in its second season. An indefatigable performer, Leno loves to test his humor live on audiences across the nation, performing over 100-150 live appearances in nightclubs, theaters and stadiums each year. He has been touted as one of the nicest people in show business and the hardestworking— a winning tandem for the man who says, “Anyone can have a life—careers are hard to come by!” www.facebook/jayleno

From bop to pop…the evolution of a sound! ALL NEW PERFORMANCE! 3 parts Jersey Boys, 2 parts Motown: The Musical and “not your grandma’s doo wop,” these five charismatic, handsome, triple threat Broadway stars—with their hot 5-piece band—tear it up, with musicality, dancing and showmanship not found with any other group in the world! They “re-doo” classic Doo Wop songs from the 50’s and 60’s and make ‘em sound fresh and new… and they take contemporary pop hits by stars like Jason Mraz, Amy Winehouse, Adele and Maroon 5, and “doowopify” them! Perfect entertainment for people ages 10 to 100! www.thedoowopproject.com

STOMP is explosive, inventive, provocative, witty, and utterly unique—an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages. The international percussion sensation has garnered armfuls of awards and rave reviews and has appeared on numerous national television shows. The eight-member troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments —matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps— to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms. Year after year, audiences worldwide keep coming back for more of this pulsepounding electrifying show. As the Boston Globe says, “If you haven’t seen STOMP, GO! If you have seen it, take someone and share the pleasure!” STOMP. See what all the noise is about. www.stomponline.com

*Please note, tickets to Jay Leno are not included with your Gala admission and are sold separately.
