PROFILE

“It’s like when I design. I like to go somewhere else, become somebody else. It’s the greatest feeling in the world...”

Tolerance - to be able to link, connect, and suture the parts together. The studio developed the notion of tolerance as a measure of the articulation of physical details in architecture, as well as programmatically, and in terms of the degree of fit of the architectural proposition into an existing urban context. Tolerance is both a question of material; of technical precision and connected to political and social structures at a wider level.

Participation - to have a share or to take part. It is a form of being together that enables integrative social and spatial processes, and addresses design, planning, decision making, building and management.

PROJECT 02

The final project where capacity to transfer previously learned skills: architectonics, ergonomics and manipulation of materials into a project of slightly higher complexity, and challenge students to create insightful and innovative designs to preserve an existing market building with introduction of new programme to enrich the idea of A Market. “Preservation is a reproduction to allow later generations to understand history. Rem Koolhaas

INTERNAL REVIEW LACK OF CROWD The market is lack of crowd as most of the stall keepers and visitors to the market are senior citizens while youngsters has went out for work or move to the city. Furthermore, people visit the market occasionally unless there are festivals or celebrations.

THE SITE ISSUE

POOR VENTILATION The ventilation of the market is poor as the unpleasant smell of slaughtered chicken, mutton and pork had been trap inside the market. POOR HYGIENE The poor hygiene of the market environment as the rubbish was thrown everywhere and the floor of the market is wet and slippery.
