The competition promoted by Sicilfiere, is an international design and ideas competition addressing the increasing necessity of new exhibition grounds in Barcellona PG. The purpose demand the area transformation, a big spaces for plants and flowers exhibit with particular attention at the sustainability. The rather vast area presents some natural elements such as the stream which flows through the centre, and artificial ones such as the illegal houses to the east and the old railway line to the south which subdivide the space. The project idea starts from these elements and develops around them. The site is fenced off by an urban wall and the intensification of the built-up area overlooking the road to the east, and the exhibition halls determine a compact urban front to the west. The built up part splits towards the inside, disappearing near the stream; the natural element around which a linear park develops. The eastern area will be characterised by the urban vegetable gardens.
