RICHARD’S RESEARCH MEDICAL CENTER Philadelphia, Pennsylvania l Louis Kahn l Fall 2014

This project consisted in introducing first year students to wood modeling. Each person in my studio was assigned a specific building designed by Louis Kahn. The purpose of this assignment was to teach us how to read plans and sections and translate those into physical models. It served to demostrate our abilites in the wood shop as well as how we chose materials that better demonstrated and modeled an existing building.

THE ANTISOCIAL CHAIR

State College, Pennsylvania l Furniture l Spring 2015

This project consisted in designing a piece of furniture that showed ergonomics in the design. It began with choosing an object you had a connection with, so I chose my phone. From there, I decided to design a chair that would give people privacy in a chaotic world. It covered your face from different angles while still allowing you to see the outside and your surroundings.

BOAT HOUSE/KAYAK CENTER

Bald Eagle State Park l Howard, Pennsylvania l Fall 2015

The intention of this project was to design a Boat House/ Kayak Center in Bald Eagle State Park. I began the design by creating sections of the site’s topography and putting them together into a model. The main design consisted of a main corridor with three ‘fingers’, each containing a different program for the building.
