Lübech Living was founded in 2006. We work within the business of interior, lifestyle, and home decoration. Back in 2009, we turned our full attention to sustainability. Lübech Living designs and produces our own brands OOhh and OOhhx. We work as the European distributor for Vance Kitira Candles, and we are the Nordic distributor for the well-known Italian brand UASHMAMA

The OOhh Collection is a unique combination of stylish and timeless Danish design, produced with the use of specially selected sustainable materials.

OOhhx is a unique collection in the OOhh range, which is designed and produced with the same values as our OOhh Collection. We produce in countries such as Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Europe. Common to all our products is that they are all handmade, developed from sustainable materials, and part of a sustainable production. And, of course, always with that extra OOhh detail.

Lübech Living is considered a strong role model in the sustainable interior industry having focused on sustainability since 2009.

We enjoy designing and creating beautiful decor from sustainable materials!

Since 2010 OOhh products have been made in Sri Lanka by strong and proud women working from home earning an important extra income for their family. We are privileged to be part of this project and to witness a positive change in their local area.

The OOhh products are handmade and therefore all unique. As a result colors and sizes may differ slightly from the text and photos.

To reduce our CO2 footprint we nest our paper pots

A full circle of sustainable thinking

We consider our CO2 footprint in every step from design, to raw materials, production packaging and all the way to its eco-friendly reuse and disposal.

We create products which can be ecofriendly disposed after use.

Responsible packaging

1. Optimzed packaging: Eco-nested

Since 2020, several OOhh pots are nested. For products with an Eco-nested symbol, every second pot will be slightly wider, so we are able to nest two pots of the same height to help reduce our CO2 footprint.

2. Recycled packaging boxes

The cardboard boxes for our collections are made of recycled paper.

3. Your order is shipped in reused boxes

We always reuse boxes from suppliers and other businesses in our area to ship your order. If you receive any plastic filling, please note that it is 100% waste material from other businesses in our area. We only use waste-collected plastic. We hope you will treat the waste with care.

The boxes which are too weak to be reused for packing, we shred and turn into box fillers, which will ensure a safe transport for your goods.

4. Recycled box filling

We create new paper from local waste paper

In 2018 we realized that despite of our sustainable effort, our production took part in creating 20 tons of paper waste per year. This enticed us to look into new possibilities of re-using our own offcuts.

The result was a new generation of sustainable paper, which we named Zero Waste paper. The softness of the paper is ideal when creating structures and patterns, and we are proud to expand the collection with new designs in the FW23 collection.

Wood’z Made from wood dust

In the pursue to eliminate the use of paint Lübech Living / OOhh Collection is proud to introduce the new Wood’z collection. The collection is zero waste paper products with a playful wood dust surface.

Using excess wood from the local carpenter industry in Sri Lanka we create the finest wood dust in different colors. By mixing different sorts of local wood we can create several different colors and we have selected our favorite ones for the FW23 season, Light Wood and Ash.

Why we use recycled paper?

Recycled paper has followed OOhh since 2010. The first OOhh flowerpot was made from recycled paper, and we are still a major fan of the possibility to create stunning decor from such a strong sustainable and biodegradable material.

Recycled paper offers us an interesting base to develop timeless flowerpots and interior, and since we always add that extra ‘OOhh’ detail you will receive a unique piece of sustainable handicraft.

The sense of the sustainable lifestyle...

... already began in the childhood home

Small communities showing creativity with their resources

As part of a dance company Susanne and Søren started travelling together as teenagers to destinations in Asia and Africa. Here they quickly discovered how small communities get the maximum out of the limited resources they have available. The use of recycled materials and the craftsmanship of the artisans fascinated them. When returning home they unfortunately also realized that the beautiful products they purchased did not fit into the Scandinavian interior style.

Sutainability and design must go hand in hand

Back in 2009, when Susanne and Søren decided to focus purely on sustainability and social responsibility they knew that they had to make beautiful Scandinavian designs to make it a success. Sustainability was not a valued asset at that time. Therefore they decided to show the world that sustainability and social responsibility can be united in beautiful design.

Why sustainability as early as 2009?

Because it made sense. After years of working and doing business in Asia, Susanne was eager to get away from the industrial business standards in Asia. Susanne wanted to work with something more meaningful matching her personal values.

Pure happiness shines from Susanne’s eyes when she looks back at everyday life in her childhood home. This is where she was inspired to get the maximum out of all resources and taught to share all of your leftover materials with others. She clearly remembers how the neighborhood came to the garage of the family home to pick up single bolts, nails and pieces of wooden boards. Her father always saved these thinking that every household should not have to buy a full box when only a few was needed.

Why we decided to introduce ceramics

After we were contacted by the supplier we use today we decided to introduce ceramics. We wish to show the industry that it is possible to produce ceramics in a more sustainable way than the current industry standards.

Our supplier is ISO certified and they use their own solar energy to run the production as well as the water reusing system they have installed. All products are handmade. The result is a range of beautifully designed ceramic products providing additional possibilities.

Why we use recycled glass

The first addition to the OOhhx collection was the range of beautiful mouth blown recycled glass, specially selected from a renowned European glass factory.

OOhhx only use 100% recycled glass as it provides big environmental payoffs. It reduces CO2, saving energy - about 30% less energy is required to melt cullet compared to virgin raw material. Glass can be recycled endlessly with no loss in quality or purity. A perfect example of sustainability.

Why we use Zero Waste Wool

In this case we have a fantastic opportunity to use the waste wool from the glerups shoe production. glerups shoes are known for their very high quality of wool which allow us to design the most beautiful wool products. Furthermore a wish of having a local zero waste cooperation came through with this project.

But why is the glerups wool an attratctive sustainable material to us? Because it is a 100% pure natural material, antibacterial, 100% biodegradable and has the fantastic qualities of being stain resistant, itch-free and temperature regulating - so it can keep both your coffee warm and your wine cold.

A cooperation between OOhh & glerups

A dream came true for Lübech Living when we, together with the Danish company glerups, started our Zero Waste wool project. In this project we reuse excess wool from the glerups production for our lovely Nordic inspired designs.

Follow Lübech Living’s sustainable journey

It all started in Sri Lanka with a man saying “I know your candles and I know you care about the environment. I can make recycled paper waterproof”. That was the beginning of a lovely collaboration with our Fair Trade project in Sri Lanka.

2010

We launched the first OOhh Recycled Paper Pots with sand finish made by less privileged women in Sri Lanka.

2009

Actually it was not in 2010. Vance Kitira already gave us inspiration for sustainable thinking in 2009.

2012

Lübech Living were nominated for the Formland Design Award with the innovative OOhh creased paper pot on wooden base.

2018

We launched the first OOhhx recycled glass collection.

2015

We decided to start a new womens project in Vietnam in line with our Sri Lanka womens project. Resulting in the introduction of the OOhh weaved basket collection.

2013

We introduced the popular OOhh Eco-Felt made from recycled plastic.

2018

We developed the unique OOhh Zero Waste paper. Made of leftover paper from our own production.

2019

We designed our first sustainable ceramic collection produced using solar energy and water recycling.

2021

We have entered a new collaboration with glerups on their wool waste material.

2022

After years of considering and researching we introduce the cork material in 2022. We have now had the time to study the cork material and get to know its sustainable profile.

2023

Mail Me by OOhh. With this new flat packed flower pot we are able to cut down our CO2 footprint and take sustainability in the flower industry to a new level.

2023

With WOOD’z OOhh have succeeded eliminating the use of paint by using wood dust from the local carpenter industry to create our tactile colors.
