ABOUT ME: MY NAME IS LAUREN PUIG, A JUNIOR AT IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY ACHIEVING MY BFA IN INTERIOR DESIGN. AT A YOUNG AGE I WAS CONSTANTLY WANTING TO REDESIGN SPACES TO MAKE THEM MORE COMFORTABLE AND INVITING, WHICH STARTED MY PASSION FOR INTERIOR DESIGN. MY MAIN STYLE THAT I LIKE TO INCORPORATE IN MY DESIGNS ARE NATURAL ELEMENTS THAT CREATE A CALM BUT STYLISH FEEL.I LOOK FORWARD TO ALL THE EXPERIENCES AND CHALLENGES I WILL GO THROUGH AS A DESIGNER TO GROW MY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS IN THE FUTURE.

RESIDENTIAL PROJECT: CLIENT PROFILE:

CONCEPT STATEMENT: HORIZON LINE

YOUNG FAMILY WITH SPECIAL NEEDS- SINGLE PARENT WITH TWO CHILDREN (HIGH SCHOOL DAUGHTER AND A MIDDLE SCHOOL SON WITH AUTISM)

THE HORIZON LINE IS A REPRESENTATION OF THE FAMILY’S SCANDINAVIAN CULTURE. THE LINE EMBODIES SIMPLICITY AND CONSISTENCY. THE SON WHO IS AFFECTED BY AUTISM IS SUPPORTED THROUGH THE MEANING OF THIS CONCEPT. IT SHOWS BOTH FORM AND FUNCTION, THAT BRING NATURAL ELEMENTS INTO THE INTERIOR. THE STRAIGHT LINE GOES INFINITELY INTO THE FUTURE AND THIS HOUSE SUPPORTS THE FAMILY AS THEY DO SO AS WELL.
