Official Newsletter of Division 1A of the New Jersey District of Key Club International
Greetings from your LTG! Dear Division 1A, New Jersey District Board, and Kiwanis Committee, Hello everyone! My name is Kyra Adams and I happy to be serving as the Lieutenant Governor of Division 1A of the New Jersey District of Key Club International for the 2013-2014 service year! I am currently a junior at Lower Cape May Regional High School and have been involved in the K-Family for 6 years. I joined Builders Club in the sixth grade and continued until I graduated eighth grade, serving as president for my final year. Once I entered high school, I immediately joined Key Club and it quickly earned a special place in my heart. My love for this incredible organization blossomed further when I served as Editor for my club, and continued as I was elected President. Although Key Club is my main priority, I am also involved in many other extracurricular activities. I am a member of the National Honors Society and the TriM Music Honors Society, I am Vice President of the student body, and I am also very involved in the music department through our concert choir, spring musical, and fall play. I also spend my summers working as a pirate actor in a local restaurant. After high school, I hope to continue my education and earn my Masters in Musical Theatre or Theatre Education. While I am very involved, Key Club has always been, and always will be, my first priority. As Lieutenant Governor I have a many goals that I hope Division 1A is able to reach this service year. I hope to work very closely will all club officers to make this service year the best it can be! I know that this service year is going to be amazing and I am sincerely looking forward to working with every one of you. I know that if we work together, we can make a difference! If you ever need anything, feel free to text, call, or email me! I can’t wait to get to know you all. Thank you! Yours in caring and service,
Kyra Adams Division 1A Lieutenant Governor

Recap of District Convention 2013 On the weekend of April 5th-7th, more than 650 Key Clubbers from around the New Jersey District gathered at the Ocean Place Resort and Spa in Long Branch, New Jersey for the 67th Annual New Jersey District Convention. At DCON, Key Clubbers celebrated a “swinging year of service” with the 1920s theme, The Great GatsKEY. The weekend consisted of a variety of workshops ranging from the Eliminate Project, all the way a workshop that taught popular dances from the 1920s, a 1920s themed dance, a semi-formal dance, inspirational Key Note Speakers, elections for District Office, and the always exciting spirit stick competition. Key Clubbers even bid on members of the District Board in hopes of winning a dance! At the awards ceremony the most dedicated officers and general members were recognized for their commitment to Key Club, and the most talented attendees were given the chance to shine in the drawn and digital poster contests, the talent show, the oratorical contest, the impromptu essay contest, and the video contest. If you couldn’t attend this year, start planning for next year!
Out to lunch in Long Branch during free time!

A word from Division 6! Hello Division 1A! My name is Hannah Hickman and I am the Lieutenant Governor from Division 6. Summer is right around the corner but that does not mean Key Club is taking a break. But how can you have a successful summer project? If you have not already, gather your executive board to start planning a summer meeting or events. The summer provides the chance for a variety of projects. Help clean the beaches, plant a garden, or even do a joint project with your sponsoring Kiwanis Club! Key Club is more than just all work and no play. Plan a social event! Hold a barbecue with your general members, go out for ice cream, or even plan a friendly baseball game.Summertime is Key Club time! I hope you all have a happy, safe, service-filled summer! Yours in Caring and Service, Hannah Hickman
