Welcome It is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to returning and new students for the start of another school year. You are part of your residence hall or apartment community, and I encourage you to take advantage of it! Get to know your resident assistant (RA) and the rest of your in-hall staff who is willing to offer advice, information, or guidance on just about anything. Be sure to meet your neighbors at your community’s planned socials, check out any number of LSU student organizations, seek leadership positions in the Residence Hall Association (RHA), or ask about how to make your LSU community a better place to live. We are here to help you Love Purple and Live Gold during your time with us. If you need anything, just let us know. We hope your time at LSU is an exciting and transformational experience. Welcome to LSU Res Life and your new home! On behalf of the staff and all of LSU, I wish you the best.

For additional campus maps, visit or download the LSU app for your mobile device. When moving in, please use the designated unloading zones near the entrances of the buildings. Volunteer move-in crews will help quickly unload students’ belongings. We suggest that a family member stay with the student’s belongings until a room key is secured. After unloading, please move vehicle(s) to the back of parking lots or to the parking garage at Union Square to ensure access for other movers. Unattended cars parked in unloading zones or blocking the flow of traffic may be towed at the owner’s expense.

Students participating in pre-approved programs may move into their rooms before August 22 to be on campus in time for their program’s start date. Only those students who have a fall 2013 housing assignment and are required by an LSU department or organization to arrive to campus between August 15 (at noon), through August 22, 2013 are allowed to arrive early. Students participating in authorized programs must contact the sponsoring department or organization to request early arrival housing. Unless a program specifically states that housing costs are included in the program’s registration costs, a

daily cost of $26.23 per night will be added to the student’s fee bill for all days that he or she stays in his or her residence hall room prior to the August 22 move-in day. The total due will be rounded to the nearest dollar. For more information about early arrival, read the FAQs at or contact Lynn Livingston, manager in Residential Life, via e-mail at or by phone at 225-578-4441.

Looking for a way to gain leadership experience, make amazing new friends, organize or participate in huge campus-wide programs when you get to LSU? Perfect, because we have just the organization for you. LSU Residence Hall Association (RHA) is the second-largest student organization at LSU. RHA is composed of an executive staff and several community councils in which you can get involved. RHA is responsible for major programming throughout the year, such as the annual crawfish boil and Splatterbeat,

an outrageous night of fun in which students splatter paint on each other while listening to music. RHA also spearheads other efforts, such as policy recommendations within the residence halls, and is the official representation of on-campus residents to LSU’s administration. RHA members will also welcome you either when you move in to your hall or at your first community meeting. However you decide to get involved is great...just do it! Getting involved on campus is a great way to connect with new people, pursue your interests, build a foundation for

All res hall computer labs have a free-use printer, but residents must provide their own paper. You can sign up for in-room, local telephone service through your myLSU account. Cable is included with each res hall room and apartment. Students only need to provide the TV and cable wire.
