Kinesiology major Abby Caffey worked with Marc Dalecki, PhD, researching concussions and its long-term effects on young adults.

Hi-Def Valley Working alongside faculty, as well as LSU Football athletic training staff, doctoral candidate Kelley Burger led a team of graduate students in LSU’s Digital Media Arts & Engineering and Kinesiology programs to create a virtual environment that allows athletes to develop their skills in a game-like environment.

LSU Spring 2021 Research Grant Baton Rouge native and SOK student Abigail Lafleur studied standardized exercise regimens in fruit flies to better understand how genetic variations impact exercise.

NASSM Doctoral Research Grant Doctoral candidate Tiffany Demiris received a grant from the North American Society for Sport Management for her work “Exploring the Financial History and Modernization of College Football Stadia within the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Football Bowl Subdivision.”

12 Engaged Citizen Distinction Graduates through the LSU Center for Community Engagement, Learning, and Leadership since the program began in 2019.

16+ Weeks Clinical Immersion As a flagship university in the state, LSU is known for its clinical sites, facilities, faculty, and preceptors. Students in the LSU MSAT program will complete at least 16 weeks of clinical immersive work in LSU Athletics, orthopedic and primary care medicine clinics, high schools, and other medical facilities.

The School of Kinesiology faculty receive research grants from organizations, departments, and companies like the National Institute of Health, the Harvard Foundation, Department of Defense, and NASA.

Some select research grants and awards include: Senlin Chen, PhD, was recently awarded an extramural grant sponsored by The Bulwark Project Foundation, which will support his research titled "Forging Under-Privileged Eduardo Children Life Skills through a Jiu Jitsu-based Martial Arts Program: The Bulwark Project." Amanda Benson, PhD, received the 2021 CAATE President's Award, which recognizes impact and service to the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education. Per Svensson, PhD, was invited by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) to speak to new UN delegates on innovation and sport for development and peace.
