Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy
Meet the Conservancy!
Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy (LRWC) is a nonprofit organization located in Litchfield, Connecticut and dedicated to the protection of waterfowl and wetlands through research, education and conservation action.
LRWC provides exciting and unique environmental education programs for all age groups available throughout the year. All programs are aligned with Connecticut Science Content Standards. Our programs can be tailored to enhance any classroom’s curriculum, from elementary to high school.
The diverse group of Avian Ambassadors at LRWC makes it possible for children of all ages to come into direct contact with our waterfowl and birds of prey!
These birds bring an exciting element into our programs as students get to meet live examples of the biological concepts they are learning about.
Meet Ben Sonnenberg, the Director of Environmental Education at LRWC. Ben has a degree in Biology, a love for birds, and an enthusiasm for teaching. He is a Montana native and has a background in field research in Washington State and sea duck aviculture in Alaska. Ben is excited to start a new adventure with LRWC.
