Dear reader, Finally the winter is almost over! February is full of events (pages 4-5) and you won't even notice how fast it'll pass. In this month my favorite holiday – Chinese New Year – is taking place. Don't hesitate to read a few facts about celebration (pages 6-13). Valentine's Day is a holiday which has it all – hatred and love, but it's still worth celebration (page 14). Check the watch-list (page 15) for something special from Netflix.

Valentine's Day Valentine's Day is probably the most hated holiday I know. On the contrary there are a lot of people who are waiting for it with anticipation regarding their relationship status. I used to love it the most when I was single. A lot of chocolate, warm pj's and some corny movie – I call it an evening. You say it's a commercial holiday but so is Christmas which everyone loves. It's just not fair. It's all about finding your shade of pink. There are too little holidays in a year and we need to take advantage of everything this world has to offer. Release yourself from hatred and buy something pink and glittery. I know you secretly love it. Or just follow International Holiday Plan approved by many generations – get drunk.
S.A.D. (Single Awareness Day) If you are single it doesn't mean that you lack love in your love. You can express your feelings to your family, friends or your dearest pets. But there is one really important person in your life which often gets neglected. So at least on this day you should treat yourself with a present. I've heard of women who buy themselves flowers and pretend it's from their partner, which is ridiculous. There is absolutely nothing wrong in buying presents for yourself. And this is definitely the day! Also mind that some places will be full while others totally empty. Good day to spend in library or gym. And don't forget that International Holiday Plan is always an option.
V-day V-Day is a global activist movement started by author, playwright and activist Eve Ensler to end violence against women and girls. The 'V' stands for Victory, Valentine and Vagina. Each year, 14 February, there are charity-based performances of Vagina Monologues. You can try to find related event in your city or even organize your own - on this day it's allowed to use the play royalty-free. I'm sure that you can discover an awesome female community just in your own neighborhood, even if the members yet don't know about it themselves.
Watch-list Altered Carbon (2018 - ) 2 February became available new Netflix TV-series created by Laeta Kalogridis, best known for Shutter Island, Terminator Genesis and Avatar. The series is based on the 2002 novel of the same title by English author Richard K. Morgan. Altered Carbon was originally planed as a film, but the universe was considered to complected to fit into 2 hour screen-time. The tagline of the series is “No body lives forever”.
The show is set approximately 300 years from now, where people became interstellar and learned to preserve consciousness. The death is still the matter of time but time is finally for sale in a form of new sleeve. The main theme of the show is the conflict between body (sleeve) and mind. The informational space feeds to its citizens such slogans as “You are not your body”, “Buy yourself a sleeve you deserve”etc., while, in fact, ordinary families teach their children pretty much the opposite – you have one body for life. Sleeves are not for everyone's pocket. There are a lot of sub-conflicts: human and god, who is presumably dead and replaced; human and society, which is as always not as satisfying as wanted; human and AI, which is outsmarted most of people centuries ago but used for under-qualified job. Every season 1 episode is named after a classic noir film from the 1940's or 1950's. You will like this tvshow if you are into Blade Runner aesthetics: plastics, awesome outfits and AI. Dreamy and trippy, it'll color in neon your last days of winter.
