Decorate a nursing home for the holidays. After you finish, entertain the residents by singing or playing games. Decorate teachers’ doors for holiday. “Wrap” teachers’ doors like presents or add winter snowflakes. Talk to management of a mall, discount store or department store about setting up a couple tables to wrap gifts for a small donation. Dress up in holiday gear—even elf-costumes—and singing carols while you wrap.

I am planning out first divisional to be in December! Details to come!!

Miles of Dimes Miles of Dimes is a project that Distinguished Past Lieutenant Governor Daniel Suh started and I will be continuing. Last year we raised $1,111 for March of Dimes Organization which was amazing, but I think we can raise more! We will again try to collect a mile’s worth of dime and we’re already 10% there! There are 17 dimes in one foot (approximately $2), and 5,280 feet in one mile. If we could reach our goal of one mile, than we will have raised $10,560 for March of Dimes! However, I will making this competition. Each school will raise their own number of dimes, and on the day when all the schools in our division come together, we will see which school has gotten the most feet. We will not only be collecting dimes, but any amount of money up to $5 bills. On a specific date, we will take the money and exchange it for a sheet with dimes printed on it. The school with the most feet will receive a trophy and a party!

Leadership Training Conference! When: March 31- April 2, 2017 Where: Desmond Hotel in Albany, NY Theme: “Unmasking the Service Save the date now!! More information to come! http://ltc.nydkc.org/info.html

lind! B e h t r o f s e c i Vo For his governor's project, District Governor Matt Garber has chosen the project called "Voices for the Blind" which is all about empowering the blind and visually impaired children by promoting education, leadership, and confidence. I am excited to announce we will be working with Camp Abilities, specifically the Saratoga Camp, an amazing organization that offers summer camps for blind children that focuses on adapted sports, interaction, and confidence building.Want to help out the Governor’s Project?? Get ready to sell the awesome Voices for the Blind t-shirts!

Pediatric Lyme Disease Foundation The Pediatric Lyme Disease Foundation was set up to help pay for medical treatment for children with Lyme disease. Unfortunately most insurance companies do not pay for its treatment, which is very expensive. Lyme Disease may affect the brain in many ways and can invade the central nervous system within days to a week of initial skin infection. Lyme disease is transmitted through deer tick, a common site in New York. The majority of people who are treated early with antibiotics do well and incur no long-term problems. People who are not treated until later may have a more complicated outcome. Website: http://www.kiwanis-ny.org/lyme/

t

Contes PLDF Pin Design The Pediatric Lyme Disease Foundation has been using this pin (seen below) for the past few years. However, the foundation would like a new pin and is asking for your help! Design a pin for the Pediatric Lyme Disease Foundation. The winner of the Pin Design Contest will receive a Brittany, a special award given to those who donate $500 to the foundation. Please send your entry to me (lovinajohn.ltg@nydkc.org) by January 15th, 2017.
