Lovejoy Community,
There is something that is more important than “A” ratings and championships. That something is being a good person.
One of the things I am most proud of is that our Lovejoy Culture places high value on being a respectful and kind person. Our Graduate Profile even includes “Fair and Respectful to
SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE Others” as a major precept. Throughout a student’s educational experience in Lovejoy ISD, we prioritize giving them the opportunity to interact with other students, teachers, administrators, and parents in a variety of settings. We expect Lovejoy ISD students to act in accordance with the principle treat others as they would want to be treated. It is our intention that the variety of experiences and opportunities to serve others will lead students to go outside themselves to find happiness and joy in the love, friendship, and companionship of others.
Our values are lived out through our actions. Lovejoy High School students made me extremely proud during last week's homecoming celebrations. Our students were kind, inclusive, and displayed compassion and consideration for others.
The impact we have on each other is one of our most precious opportunities. I am grateful to our students whose actions contribute to what is right and good in the world.
There is only ONE LOVEJOY and we are ALL LEOPARDS!
Katie Kordel SuperintendentDue to requirements from the state, Proposition A will read:
Ad Valorem simply means property taxes, collected locally
The 13.32% increase is calculated comparing the No New Revenue (NNR) Tax Rate to the Adopted/VATRE Rate
The increase in tax collections of $3.2M listed is based on current year values compared to last year and not what the District is allowed to keep. We will net approximately $640k from the additional 3.17 cents available via the VATRE. If the NNR rate used in this calculation were adopted, the District would lose $2M in net revenue. The tax rate at $1.4746 is a $.0304 decrease from last year’s rate of $1.5050.
Leadership Lovejoy is designed to provide community participants with a comprehensive overview of the school district by department and district leadership. By educating our community members about the workings of the school district, we create a resource pool from which to draw for participants in district planning, district and campus improvement teams, and other district or community activities. In addition, it serves as comprehensive initial training for those interested in serving as a school board trustee. The objective is to provide information as well as an opportunity to ask questions in an interactive format. The structure of Leadership Lovejoy is in person, full day workshops
Lovejoy ISD is proud to offer senior citizens the opportunity to be a part of our school district. The Silver Leopard Club engages senior community members in the school district in a variety of ways. Stay informed about your school district, attend special events and performances, hear directly from our district leaders on important issues and enjoy socializing with your friends and neighbors! is Silver Leopard Club?

LISD and the Foundation for Lovejoy Schools hosted an alumni event last Friday night before the big Homecoming Game. Foundation volunteers grilled hot dogs and provided chips, drinks and cookies for those in attendance. The crowd was not big; however, everyone had a great time playing cornhole and Jenga, not to mention catching up with some former classmates. We hope to continue this tradition from year to year!
Parent volunteers create the most unique and delightful learning experiences for our students. Last week Puster parents volunteered to prep homemade applesauce and "sell" it at the store in big centers!
Mrs. Porter's kindergarten class at Puster Elementary did an interactive writing lesson about being a Good Citizen for Constitution Day! Words of wisdom from out littlest Leopard citizens:
Put a bandaid on them if they are bleeding" Holly "If you see someone being bad tell them to change their choice" Jacob "Treat others the way I want to be treated" Truman "You can help someone find something" Payton
Hart Elementary kindergartener, Tricia G., was so thrilled to receive Superintendent Kordel's birthday letter that she opened it at dinner time in front of her whole family. Thank you for sharing this sweet video with us! Happy Birthday, Tricia!

The National Merit Breakfast was held yesterday in the Library at Lovejoy High School. We were honored to recognize and celebrate this significant accomplishment with our National Merit Semifinalist and Commended students.
The Lovejoy Band percussion made their first appearance at a contest for the year this past weekend at the HEB Drumline Contest. This is early in the season for everyone and it is a big step to prepare for a show this early and come away with a podium finish.
This is the first time the Lovejoy Drumline has placed in the top of their class at a drumline only competition! The drumline was awarded 3rd place in their group for the day. Their judges were Dr. Brian West from TCU and the percussion caption head for the Blue Devils drum corp, Scott Johnson. If you can impress these legends, you are doing well! Go band!!
Enjoy the link below of their performance!! https://youtu.be/yV4lCB2v zo
The Lovejoy Cross Country team (and amazing booster club) hosted one of the largest meets in the state this past weekend. We had over 3,000 runners and 5,000 spectators and fans at Myers Park on Saturday morning. It was an amazing day of racing as some of the top teams from across the state of Texas came to battle it out on the hilly, challenging running course! The girls team was 1st and dominated the field! The boys team was 5th overall only beaten by 6A teams.
They raced hard, then they cleaned up! We are so proud of our hard working athletes and coaches who hosted an amazing event!
Both the boys and girls teams are currently ranked #1 in class 5A State Rankings! Article Link
The girls golf team held their own in their first tournament of the year, finishing 9th in a field of 16 6A teams. The Leopards were led by sophomore Katelyn Coleman (80), freshman Jordan Wheelis (84), and sophomore Sofia Denham (85).
The 8th grade A Team was 2nd place in the Gold Bracket of the Texas Classic volleyball tournament. Congratulations on a well played tournament and an excellent finish!
The girls team was 3rd out of 17 teams!
The middle school cross country team got to participate in the Lovejoy Fall Festival, which is hosted by our high school Cross Country team. Tristan Arceneau and Dani Sassine were the top finishers for the Leopards, both athletes placing 2nd overall. The boys team was 4th and the girls team placed 3rd.
Lovejoy ISD is fortunate to be supported by a truly amazing IT team! They are like the Wizards of Oz working behind the scenes to make sure our technology is supporting the highest levels of learning and teaching. Thank you today and every day!
