NEW NORDIC Architecture & identitY Exhibition 29.6-21.10 The Nordic countries are closely connected by values based on a profound sense of community. How does this specific Nordic sense manifest in architecture and identity? New Nordic is the story of how we currently build in the Nordic region and express and organise ourselves and our community.

Nordic architecture has resurged to great acclaim in recent years, due to an insistence on specific values and visions and a renewed interest in local and regional qualities. Traditionally, reflecting landscape and climate Nordic architecture is linked to a keen sense of materials, building techniques, and simplicity. To exemplify the interaction between building and environment installations have been created specifically for the exhibition by Johan Celsing (SE), Jarmund/VigsnĂŚs (NO), Studio Granda (IS), Lassila Hirvilammi (FI), and Lundgaard & Tranberg (DK). As the Nordic countries are often associated with a strong social welfare system, the exhibition suggests how these ideals reflect in contemporary architecture. Physical, cultural, and social conditions are incorporated in architectural projects such as libraries, culture centres, and sports halls that all gather residents in one area. Part of the exhibition concentrates on designs for the public space, including the theories by Danish architect, Jan Gehl. While an ideal city was once regarded as rational and efficient, attention is now focused on creating sustainable environments and communal spaces, adapted to human needs, and with a sensible use of resources.

ASGER JORN

New presentation Asger Jorn is one of the most acclaimed Danish artists of the 20th century. Louisiana's very significant collection of his works is now on show, featuring several recent Jorn acquisitions.

ED KIENHOLZ

Five Car Stud – 6.6-21.10 A very special opportunity to experience the installation Five Car Stud by American artist Ed Kienholz. Created 1969-72, it has only recently resurfaced after having been stored away for forty years. Five Car Stud is rebellious, provocative, and physically insistent. Its relevance today is still beyond doubt.
