The date for next year’s Family Fun Day is set and planning is in full swing. The Family Fun Day is a great day out for families that is guaranteed to bring smiles to our beautiful children’s faces! The Fun Day is also the school’s major fund raising event on the school calendar with all money going to improve the school’s outdoor environment. The fund-raising target for the 2014 Fun Day is $25,000. This is a whole school community event. Everyone has something to contribute, whether it’s time, baking skills, selling raffle tickets or donating items. If all families get involved, the day will be a great success!! The Family Fun Day News outlines just some of the ways you can be part of the Fun!

Family Fun Day “Makes you Smile” The Family Fun Day 2014 theme is “makes you smile”. Congratulations to Eliza deBoer in PCE for winning the competition to design the 2014 Fun Day Logo. The logo will be used on all marketing materials.

Would you like to have a Market Stall? With over 1000 people expected at the Fun Day, it’s a great way to sell and promote your goods and services. The types of stalls/items that we are looking for are handmade items, clothing, jewellery, homewares, new toys and books, conserves, equipment and services, but not anything that the school is already selling – ie food stalls, raffles, lucky dip. Stalls cost $30. Send us an email if you would like an application form or further information.

Coordinate a Stall and go into the draw to win two fete wristbands for unlimited rides We are looking for people to put their hand up to be Stall Coordinators/Conveners. Stalls include the plant stall, toddler town, spinning wheel, various sideshow alley games and craft stalls, ticket sales, cake stall, toy stall and book stall . . to name a few. As a stall coordinator, you get to been involved in the fun of planning the event and making sure your allocated stall is fun and a success. It doesn’t mean that you have to volunteer at your stall all day on Fun Day. If you need incentive, every stall coordiantor will go into the draw to win two Fun Day wristbands for unlimited rides!

Health & Wellbeing Stalls Do you have a business relating to “health and wellbeing” that can offer a service and/or promotional items at the Fun Day. Eg – Physio, Chiro, Naturopath, Osteo, Diatetics, health and fitness, personal training, optometry, speech therapy, and even tutors. The exhibitor registration fee is $60 and we are inviting members of our school community to exhibit prior to approaching local businesses. We will only have one of each type of business so first in best dressed. Please let us know by the end of November if you would like to exhibit. Exhibitors will also have to supply their own marquee/chair on the day. 3



Face Painters Can you already face paint or would you like to learn, so that you can volunteer for two hours at the face painting stall at Fun Day. We are offering a free fun training session to be held one evening at school for 10 parents to do a range of basic faces to be offered on Fun Day. If you are interested, please email today!

Plant Stall – calling all green thumbs! The plant stall was a great success this year, so we are going to do it again! If you have a green thumb, you may like to start growing some plants from cuttings or seed to be ready for Fun Day. The call for plants will go out in late February, with plants being delivered to the school in the week before Fun Day.

Toy and Book Stall If you have any pre-loved toys or books, we would love to take them off your hands and help them find a new home for them at the Fun Day Toy and Book Stall. Toys must be in excellent, safe and working condition and must be clean. Please place your toys and books donations in the Fun Day Donation boxes in your child’s learning areas.

Can we borrow your Little Tike Car? We would like to create a “Toddler Town’ at Fun Day, which would include a track with signs & traffic lights for toddlers to drive around in Little Tike cars. We contacted Little Tikes to try and get cars from them, but they were not helpful, so we are hoping that Stella families will allow us to borrow their Little Tike Cars for the day. All cars will be named and returned. Please email today if you will let us borrow your Little Tike on Fun Day. 4



Fun Day Sponsorship Organising the Fun Day is a little bit nerve racking – you can’t help worry about the ‘weather’ and ‘whether’ all the hard work will pay off and the Fun Day actually makes money for the school!! The ideal situation would be to have already broken even before the Fun Day arrives, by obtaining cash sponsorships prior to the event. With this aim in mind, we are finalizing a Fun Day Sponsorship Proposal to give to each family. It may be of interest to some families with businesses or you may be able to give the proposal to your employer, a family member or friend. Anyone that sponsors the Fun Day would receive promotion and advertising benefits in return for their investment.

Fun Day Raffle - win a slice of paradise The Raffle is shaping up to be a big one, with the major prize being a HOLIDAY to HAMILTON ISLAND for a family of 4!! Each family will be provided with 1 book of 20 tickets in the New Year to sell to friends, neighbours and work colleagues. The aim will be to sell 8,000 tickets to raise an amazing $10,000!! There will also be a prize for the family who sells the most tickets! We hope to secure some more prizes soon. Please let us know if you have any contacts who may like to donate a prize for this or the Fun Day Auction.



Photographers Wanted

OCTOBER 2013 .Please let us know if you would be willing to offer your time, equipment and photography skills to take some great photos on all the smiles and fun on the day. It would be ideal to have a handful of people volunteer to take on small shifts throughout the day.

Printing We are looking for printing companies to sponsor the printing of the Fun Day Program (1000 x colour A5 double sided 80gsm) and the Fun Day Promotional Flier (6000 x colourA5 double sided 120-200 gsm) to be distributed to local homes, Promotional Posters (100 x colour A3 single sided 120-200 gsm). Please let us know if you and your know someone that can help – in return for some great advertising opportunities!

Cellophane, balloons . . . It’s often the little bits that add up and eat into the fund-raising profits, so if you can donate or have a contact that we could approach for a donation, of clear cellophane, curling ribbon and balloons, that would be a FANTASTIC help!!
