This is an introductory course in the theory, operation, and maintenance of natural gas heating systems used in residential and small commercial heating installations. It includes the properties of fuel gases, gas combustion, furnace operation, pilot and ignition devices, and troubleshooting and maintenance of systems. The class will be hands-on, with emphasis on using tools and equipment to diagnose and repair the systems according to standards, regulations, and best practices. This course would be good for someone wanting to build a strong HVAC/R background, as an apartment manager or a home repair professional, or someone who wants to know more about their own HVAC/R system.
