Lady Sandy Newby - Grand High Priestess A friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart. High Priestess Our Ceremonial has come & gone and if you weren’t there, you really missed a wonderful day! Our court performed the ritual and drills beautifully. We had a fantastic lunch and Noble Jim Miller, Chairman of the Shriners Hospital Committee gave a great synopsis of their work for the Shriners’ kids. We will be planning to show the Shiners video at the January 14th Membership Social. Please be there! The big news is that we have ‘made our budget’, meaning that we have sufficient funds for the operation of our court this year. It hasn’t been an easy task! This also means that now we can concentrate more on helping our Shrine kids; and that the lack of a ‘money burden’ releases us to more fully enjoy each other and family… REMEMBER, this doesn’t release us from actively continuing our great record of donations. We have a philanthropic focus on welfare. I wish to thank Lady Barbara Hineman, the Ways &
Means Chairman, Lady Paula Mattingly, Chairman of our golf tournament, and last years’ members for forwarding cookbooks for sale and the many donations (time and money) that our members have lovingly made. Please continue to purchase these lovely cookbooks. They make wonderful gifts. Each additional dollar donation that we receive can go to philanthropy. For the future, I encourage a careful look at the amount of our court dues. Apparently, we are in the lowest tier in the country. An increase would assist relieving some of the future court operating budget problems. Lady Bobbie Balthazor became the lucky new owner of the $500.00 Opportunity. We thank all the donors for this Ways and Means project. This Ways & Means project was another project which helped us to meet our budget goal. Thank you so much to all who participated. Associate Princess This is the busiest time of year for all of us, cleaning, shopping, decorating and baking. Please keep our kids in the hospitals in your plans and prayers. I had a snowman at the Ceremonial for all to sign their names to make a donation toward my special project for this year. I will have it at the December meeting also. It’s a great way to help our children in the hospitals in lieu of sending cards. As a reminder, the project I have chosen is “Orthopedic Footwear” for the children. My thanks for whatever you can give to help them. Your generous donations for the kids have been wonderful. I have received several boxes from a very generous lady full of knitted hats, scarves, gloves, as well as more lap robes. I also received $60.00, in gift cards from the Clown Unit and will be shipping them along with the hats gloves and scarves. Thank you all for your generous donations. Thank you all for what you do for our children, You are the greatest. Have a healthy and joyous holiday season.

First Ceremonial Lady Welcome to our court, Betsy Ramirez. We hope to see you as often as possible. We know Yuma is a long drive. Although Betsy was our only candidate initiated and we had few in attendance, the ceremonial went well. Congratulations for all who had to multi task. Our other two candidates, Cheryl Hoover and Tanja Ryan were sick with intestinal flu. Hope they feel better soon and join us soon. Congratulations to Karen MacDougall for being installed as One Year Trustee. Thank you for stepping up to the plate. There is a change regarding the Membership Tea. It was suggested we call it a Membership Social. I like the idea. So the Membership Social date is now Saturday, January 14, 2012, at my house at 1PM. My address is 3328 E. Mountain View Rd. in Phoenix. If you've not been to my house, the easiest way is to get on SR 51. If going north on 51, take the 32nd Street exit, go right, then an immediate left, I'm the 4th house on the left. if coming south on 51, take Shea Blvd exit, go right, turn left onto 32nd St. cross over the 51, then make the immediate left onto Mountain View Rd. Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. Our next court meeting is December 12th. Hope to see many ladies dressed in their Holiday Best!

Clowns Rodeos and clowns are always thought about together, well, sometimes. The Clowns (who are not rodeo clowns) had a great time at the Garrett Rodeo. We painted faces and hands of children of all ages. A special thanks to Dave McKelvey who came with the supplies for balloons even though Debbie was ‘out of service’. Thanks Dave! The rodeo was the last for that group, after all these years. Things change for all of us but we never get completely over being a child. Thankfully!! December is a big month for Clown activities. Big events and parties for children where the guy in red is not the only one having fun. We will be all around town so look for us. Breathe easy – we are not checking to see who is naughty or nice. This is the season of parties and friends, families and fun. The lines have blurred for many of us on these groups of people. Many of our friends have become family. What a true blessing this is!! The common interest we first share through our Masonic heritage draws us together and is the basis for lifelong friendships. Each of the organizations is a part of that heritage and another cause for celebration. The Clowns wish each and every member and their families a happy holiday season. Just believe! With joyful anticipation... Lady Pam Wade Vice Pres.

Sphinx Court Travel Fund Committee “Shriner’s Got Talent & Steak Fry” is coming up soon; hopefully all the Units and Clubs are selling tickets for this event. We have several donated items and door prizes so far. Talk about “TALENT” you won’t believe who will be there and what they are going to do. At our last meeting (November 21, 2011) I handed out info to the Clubs and Units on job assessments, so If you have any questions please call me on my cell phone (480-710-5975). It should be a wonderful time for all. So start selling those tickets or they are great Christmas Gifts. Thank you in advance for all your help in making this event great. Not sure if we will need another meeting before the event or not, so let’s all work together and have a great time with “Shriner’s Got Talent & Steak Fry” Lady Jane Sheldon Co-Chairman
Sphinx Court Ways & Means Committee Thanks to the Units, Club and individuals who took tickets to sell, OUR BUDGET HAS BEEN MADE! We even made enough over the budget to cover the $500.00 Opportunity payout and had some to spare. That doesn’t mean we can lean back and relax though. Our Court still needs to keep funds coming in to cover any unexpected expense we might have, but thanks to all of you wonderful Ladies who always come through for the Court, we did it. With everyone working together, we will always succeed. Thanks again Ladies! Lady Barbara Hineman, PHP Chairman
