Fermenting Food Workshop with Liz Bowman Many illnesses and diseases begin in the gut. Learn to make your own fruit and vegetable ferments, kombucha, sauerkraut and kimchi, to begin your home made, affordable journey to better health and digestion! Toy Library

We have recently refurbished our Toy Library and have a fantastic new range of over 100 toys to choose from. Just like a book library, members can borrow quality items, return and borrow more. Catering for children 5 months - 5 yrs, membership is open to the whole community, including parents, grandparents and carers.New members are always welome. Children & Technology with Leigh Bartlett from BATforce.

Lorne Aireys-Inlet P-12 College, will be hosting ‘Children and Technology’ education sessions with Barwon Adolescent Task Force. BATForce will deliver their ‘tech talk’ parent /community education for families and will investigate everything from healthy relationships, applications, creating online content, importance of modeling and loads more. Session One – Years 5 – 8: for students, community and parents. This session enables families to come together with their children to ensure that everyone is receiving the same messages, it aims to create conversations that we hope will continue long after the session is finished. Session Two – Years Preschool – 4: for parents only. This session enables parents/carers and grandparents of the younger crew to come together to discuss what technology may look like in the future lives of their young family. REEL Health International Short Film Festival

Kids CFA Activities Afternoon “Winter Fire Safety”

Barwon Health, in partnership with Monash University, and Lorne Community Hospital and House, are bringing the Reel Health International Film Festival (Reel Health) to Lorne! The festival will showcase 12 international films that inspire, touch and challenge audiences.

The school Holiday Library Children’s Program has joined with the CFA to provide one hour of FUN for the kids! Games, story time and craft activities for pre-school and primary school aged children.

Playgroup Lorne Playgroup has made some exciting changes! Our morning playgroup is now facilitated by a highly experienced ‘Small Talk 4 Kids’ Coordinator. Join with other families to share the joys and challenges of parenthood, while your children engage in play and creative activities. Basic Jewellery Construction with Monica Provan Learn basic construction techniques to make your own jewellery, using a variety of different stringing materials. You will learn how to make single to triple strand necklaces and bracelets, as well as different types of earrings. Beads and findings are initially provided in kit form in a variety of colours so that participants have finished items to take home after each session. Kits range from $5 and upwards so that you can make pieces based on your individual budget. Artistic Oil & Acrylic Workshop

with Peter Smales Professional artist, Peter Smales is offering a six hour technical instruction workshop in oil and acrylic painting. During this time you will learn about: - Basic composition principles and strategies to apply to any piece. - Simplified colour mixing to create a basic palette from six colours that can create any colour & tone value. - Instruction from live demonstrations both still & life. - Individual tuition and opportunities to ask questions as you work. Fabric Basket Making with Joy Beeby

Join local basket maker and weaver, Joy Beeby, to learn how to make your own Fabric Basket. You will learn how to wrap rope with fabric and create a beautiful basket - choose your own size, colour and shape! - BYO fabric OR buy a fabric pack for $10, or - Bring your own sentimental piece of fabric and weave it into your own basket to create a meaningful keepsake. CPR & Provide First Aid Course with Susie Cartledge

Come and learn First Aid in a relaxed casual environment with a Registered Nurse. There is a choice of two courses: CPR Course (HLTAID001): Learn the basics over 3 hours. Incorporates what to do in an emergency and how to perform high quality CPR. $65/head. 9am – 12pm Provide First Aid (HLTAID003): Incorporates the above course and all topics of First Aid over a whole day. Includes trauma related injuries (bleeding, fractures etc.) and medical conditions (heart attacks, seizures etc.). $150/head. 9am- 5pm. Payment required a week in advance to book your place. Daffodil Day Join us on our annual Yellow Fundraiser for a light lunch and yellow raffles to raise money for Daffodil Day – Australia Cancer Council. Infant & Child Resuscitation Course with Julia o’Brien Learn vital information with a Registered Paediatric Nurse for the care of your infant or toddler. In this two hour information course you will learn: • Overview of basic anatomy and physiology of infants and children. • Brief over view of common childhood illnesses. • Explanation and demonstration of infant and child basic life support • Hands on practising on life size dummies of basic life support • Overview of choking and hands on practice. • Handout to take home. Art for Health & Wellbeing with Caz Rieniets.

Do you use creative art to enhance your health and wellbeing? Are you passionate about art-making and sharing this creative outlet with others? Lorne Community House is calling for any artists in the community, who ‘make art to feel good’, to join us for a morning tea and discuss ideas about displaying your work in a small exhibition at the House, during Mental Health Week.

Knit for Refugee Fundraiser with Sue Reilly of Aireys RAR Group.

Knitters needed for the Aireys Refugee and Rural group (RAR)! We need scarves, beanies, wrist warmers or anything else you would like to knit for us. We will be selling them at various locations and all proceeds go to Geelong based refugees (Wesley Church). Join us at Lorne Community House to knit together and connect with other knitters!

Literary Workshop for the Retired with Jay Robinson ‘After the Fire’- Join Jay Robinson, Clinical Psychologist for three hours of selfdiscovery in an enlightening writing workshop. You will journey through the liminal space of mind using creative writing techniques. Take this opportunity to express the impact of “The Christmas Fire” in a creative, rejuvenating way. The liminal space of mind allows new eyes to examine life and serves as a guide to help see what can’t be seen, challenge assumptions, discover new truths, encourage, care and assist in any way possible, to help get through your “in-between”. At the end of the workshop you will know a little more about yourself, have written (maybe your first) book, and enjoyed some sparkling moments. Children’s Performing Arts Group Does your child love music and drama? Bring them along to our Children’s Performing Arts Group for heaps for fun! For all kids of any ability, aged 5-12 years old.
