Acrylics are a wonderful way to learn how to become a painter. The medium is fast, forgiving, and flexible. Learn how to compose a painting, mix colors beautifully, and discover the interesting and varied techniques acrylic allows. The workshop involves the basics and beyond, and is for beginning and returning acrylic artists. Price includes basic supplies and a light lunch.

Ceramics Open Studio is open to students who have completed at least one eight-week ceramics course from the Arts Council or have previous ceramics experience. Sessions include the use of the studio, tools, glaze, and firing. This class is for the beginning or returning watercolor artist, and involves the basics of getting started and beyond. You will better understand the process of wet-onwet painting vs. glazing, as well as texture, composition, and color. Get the most out of your paint! Watercolors are luminous, forgiving, flexible, and fun if you know the basics. A supply list will be discussed the first day of class. Learn about negative space, value (shading), and all basic elements. This would be a great starter class or a brush-up for those who have taken classes before. Please bring a sketchbook and a pencil the first day of class.

Fire up the torches and join this exciting introduction to basic glass bead making. Learn how to make your own art glass beads through demonstrations, student experimentation and instructor guidance. Learn basic techniques for fusing glass jewelry. You’ll make earrings, pins, and pendants using frits, stringers, dichroic glasses, and photo-fusing paper to create rich sepia toned decals. No prior fusing experience is necessary. Use of tools and materials, including fusible glass, are included.
