Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians JFK Division #3 January, 2013 Newsletter Website: Welcome to 2013! I hope everyone had a blessed and wonderful Christmas and New Year. I would like to thank you for your vote of confidence in me as your new President. I hope I can live up to the standards set by all of those before me. One of our dear members for over 20 years, Cathy Berkley, passed away on December 19, 2012. Catherine was a teacher with the St. Louis Public School System for many years. Memorials are asked for Bellefontaine Hab Parents Assn., 10695 Bellefontaine Road, 63137. Please keep Cathy and her family in your prayers.


Since I resigned as president of the Sister Cities organization, I will be able to focus on this division. My plans are to provide a newsletter prior to each meeting. Therefore, this is a reminder that our next meeting will be Saturday, January 12 at Curuso’s. Meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m.. Dues are due and payable in the amount of $18.00 for current members. If you do not think you will be able to make the January or February meeting, please mail them to: Mary Jo Sullivan, 1529 Louisville, St. Louis, MO 63139.

We will be completing the 2012 annual reports. The Catholic Action chair needs to have you complete an annual report. For your convenience I have attached the form. Please complete the report and bring it to the January meeting. I am sure she will have copies of it there. You may also mail or email the report.

The directory attached will be updated. Please review it and advise me of any changes or additions.

St. Brigid, our Patron Saint February 1 is the feast of St. Brigid of Ireland, often called Mary of the Gael. Her feast day is one of the official holy days of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Inc. Hibernians throughout the country gather annually for celebrations in her honor. St. Brigid’s life was a remarkable one, next to St. Patrick she is the most revered saint in all of Ireland.

Curuso’s January 12-LAOH Meeting 11:30 a.m. The Pageant February 15-Gaelic Storm, 8 p.m. First Run Theatre January 11 -”The Predicament” A fun loving Irish play, written by Pat Conroy. Andre’s, St. Louis February 2-Emerald Ball Focal Point February 8-Master Irish harper Eileen Gannon of St. Louis with Kevin Buckley and piper Tommy Martin for an evening of Irish tunes. $15 in advance $20 at the door. Dogtown March 17-St. Patrick’s Day Parade There will be Irish movie nights (all ages) held twice a month during January and February. They will be on Clayton Road in Dogtown, across from O’Malley’s Irish Gifts. The first movie will be Waking Ned Devine shown on Tuesday, January 15. Popcorn is provided, bring your own beverage, of any kind. $2.00 donation is requested. The second movie will be one the Children will enjoy Darby O’Gill and the Little People on Tuesday, January 29th. All shows will start at 6:30 p.m.

State LAOH meeting will be held in April near Zona Rosa outside Kansas City. I will have the date and place later.
