ABOUT ME I’m an Architect and Landscape designer from Benevento (Italy). I started studying Architecture in Naples at the University “Federico II” and I awarded a master degree, with honors, in urban design analyzing theme such as urban regeneration, restoration and wetlands. I’m fascinated by the reuse of abandoned spaces with the design of parks and squares and disused buildings assigning new uses for social. I love music and photography and I love they can be merging with architecture.

Agro Nocerino Sarnese area and is located in the central region of the Sarno Valley. Some very important archaeological sites like Pompeii are easily reachable from the town’s historical centre. The Sarno River system represent the natural urban shaping factor for the anthropic forms that have been settling over time in these places. In 1850, King Ferdinand II of Bourbon started the grinding works on the river so to transform it into a waterway going from Scafati to its mouth; this is because the intent was to enable the transportation of gunpowder from the inland to the Real Polveriera that has been built in the same period.

Park Polverificio Bourbon

The intervention CONCEPT is characterized by the building of a pedestrian and bike path going from Scafati’s historical centre till Pompeii, a grand boulevard that can be used as an observation tool to read the urban framework and to perceive the space of the area; it is a riverside walk through the milestones that made the territory so famous all over the world. Our solution was the creation of a linear park that could work as a hinge between Pompeii’s archaeological area and the Scafati’s historical centre. 08

MASTERPLAN N

ACCESSES The Francis II Bourbon Portal has actually lost its original passing function. It was originally part of the city walls and it clearly appears as a separated element from the other urban buildings, whereas it was part of them some time ago. In the actual setting of the portal lacks of connection with the surrounding buildings and is not walkable nor it’s possible to drive through it. The municipality of Scafati has no actual connection with the system of the Polverificio. When the latter was closed it lost its industrial functionality and its green areas became impossible to use.

THE ACCESS _ Project idea

14

The proposed project aims to regeneration of the portal and the rehabilitation of its original function: a symbol of passage from a side to another of the park. This way the portal is inserted in a system of walking and biking paths, recovers its role as access point to the new park, becomes an attracting feature for the moving streams both internal and external to the project area. The project proposal is defined by a water border that obliges users to access the park only through the portal. To these aims, we choose to introduce a natural barrier made of glass slabs filled with water that can recall the image of the walls – absent at the moment – but enabling people to see across the transparent walls.

15

THE LINEAR PARK The park of the Polverificio works as a hinge between Pompeii and the historical centre of Scafati and its aim is to act as a new touristic attraction working sinergically with the archaeological sites. The creation of a linear park is a crucial development feature for the territory. The intervention aims both to improve the knowledge of an important natural and historical area, and for the development of tourism in and around Scafati.

A preamble for the development of the wetlands in the park is the opening of the crossbeam in Scafati. The Bottaro canal riverbed is totally dry at the moment; therefore it is essential to re-establish the hydro-geological equilibrium of the area, restore the course of the canal that works as the primary source of water within the system of the Polverificio.

The Natural Arch of Palinuro Centola, Italy 2016

GREEN FLOWS

Trygve Lies plass Competition, Oslo, Norway 2015 Born to connect two main urban parks in the north and in the south of Furuset. The shape of the project is designed after a study of people flows to create different spaces for passive recreation; The project is developed on three different levels to increase free and safety areas for pedestrians and cyclists and to create a unique and continuous space. The Linear Park, elevated six meters above the first level on the north side, is a green promenade.

THE NATURAL ARCH OF PALINURO

“Progetto di consolidamento, risanamento conservativo ed ambientale dell’Arco naturale di Palinuro nel Comune di Centola (SA) ”, 2016

34

The project originates from the desire of creating a continuity with the landscape thanks to the use of a continuous Corten steel band that embodies the natural Arch of Palinuro. This band does not work just as a consolidating and restoration feature of the environment, but it also plays an important architectural role in a very important landscape framework. The aim of the project is to create a walkway path along the coast with resting places where people can stop and observe the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

ARCHITECTURE High school science Università degli Studi di Napoli “Federico II”

SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL The project concept comes from a squared module formerly acting as a gathering point around which many educational functions are performed. It is articulated onto three levels and has two entrances: a main entrance and a secondary one at the same level of the school gym, also used for afternoon and evening sports activities The facades are made of volume games and solids & voids by using different materials not only to add dynamism to the structure but also to clearly distinguish the different functions identified in the module.
