Development of Secondary Students' Ability to Recognize Spatial Pattern ZHOU Zhen, LIAN Si-qing, ZHOU Chun-li (Department of Mathematics, Capital Normal University, Beijing 100037, China) Abstract: In the present study, Chinese secondary students' mental development characteristic and level on spatial pattern folding, unfolding, revolving and reasoning were analyzed. The results showed: 1) In general, students' ability to recognize spatial pattern develops with the rising of the grade (or the age); 2) Every spatial representation ability has the incompletely identical growing curve. Key words: spatial ability; mental folding; mental unfolding; mental revolving; pattern recognition
