Congratulations on your engagement! So now it begins. Perfecting every detail of your wedding celebration can be overwhelming. But take a breath. Imagine you and your guests being whisked away via gondola to the summit of Loon Peak, where you’ll exchange vows at a mountaintop amphitheater with a stunning backdrop of the White Mountains. From there, ride down and make your grand entrance into our rustic mountain lodge for an evening of cocktails, New England-inspired cuisine, and dancing. If that sounds perfect, you have found the right place.

Frequently Asked Questions Do you have any site fees? No, our packages are designed to be transparent and avoid hidden fees. The per-person price includes the use of the mountaintop amphitheater, rental of the Octagon Lodge and so much more (see page 4). Is the gondola the only way to the top of the mountain? Yes, the gondola is the only way to the top. Our staff is well-equipped to handle anyone with mobility issues. The gondola can slow down or even stop to let any guest on or off. How long is the gondola ride? What is at the top? During the summer & fall months, it takes approximately 12-15 minutes to get to the top. Aside from our beautiful amphitheater, there is a café, retail store, nature trails, playground, and glacial caves. What if it rains? There are two back-up ceremony locations in case of unfavorable weather. The first option is in front of a beautiful large stone fireplace inside the Octagon Lodge. The second location is in the legendary Paul Bunyan Room located on the second floor of the Octagon Lodge. Will we be able to have a ceremony rehearsal? Yes, the package includes a ceremony rehearsal at noon the day prior to the wedding. Is any lodging included in your packages? Loon Mountain Resort does not own any lodging facilities; therefore, there is no lodging included in any of our packages. Is there an outdoor space for the reception? Yes. A fenced-in patio area with a propane fire pit is included in the rental of the Octagon Lodge. Are dogs allowed? Dogs are allowed in the gondola and at the top of the mountain during the ceremony. They are also allowed on the outdoor patio. They are not allowed inside the Octagon Lodge unless they are a service dog as defined by The Americans with Disabilities Act. Can I bring in my own food from an outside caterer? No, all food and beverage items must be provided by Loon Mountain Resort. The only exception is your dessert. Our packages do not include a dessert item, so you may hire an outside vendor for that item only.

Do you hold food tastings? All food is procured and brought in locally for each wedding so we do not offer food tastings. We are happy to provide recommendations from past couples. Can I bring in my own alcohol? No, Loon Mountain Resort is a licensed facility and must provide all beverage items. Can I have an open bar? Absolutely! Open bars are based on consumption with our current bar pricing. Open bars are subject to state tax and service charge (see page 10). Can I choose a vendor that isn’t on your recommended list? Yes, you may hire vendors outside of our recommended list. Most couples hire an officiant, photographer, DJ/band, florist and cake/ dessert vendor. What kind of decorations do you provide? We do not provide any decorations at the mountaintop amphitheater; the backdrop of the mountains speaks for itself. However, you are welcome to provide your own flowers, shepherd’s hooks, etc. Inside the Octagon Lodge, white paper lanterns are hung over the dance floor as well as bistro twinkle lights along the wooden beams on the ceiling. These provided decorations cannot be moved. When can I come decorate? Decorations & flowers for the mountaintop amphitheater should not be set up any earlier than two hours prior to ceremony time. You may decorate the Octagon Lodge as early as 8am the day of your wedding. Loon Mountain does not take responsibility for any items left. However, leftover centerpieces and decorations may be picked up the following morning by 8am. Can we extend our reception or add an additional hour? Unfortunately, no. The five-hour rental of the Octagon Lodge cannot be extended. We do not offer any type of “after-party.”

We look forward to making your special day unforgettable.
