Steels live on BBC

MILLIONS of people will have the chance to watch Stocksbridge Park Steels take on Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday with the broadcasting giants choosing to air the fixture live.

After the premature end to last season, Stocksbridge Park Steels finally get back to playing on Saturday September 12 with Stalybridge Celtic visiting for the preliminary round of the FA Cup.

The game will be a fitting opener for the newly-named Eco-Power Stadium following Steels new sponsorship agreement with Eco-power Environmental.

It will be shown live on their red button channel with a 12.30pm kick off.

Stalybridge Celtic FC play in the Premier Division of the Northern Premier League and will provide a stiff test.

However, Steels beat them in their good FA Trophy run a few seasons ago and will be hoping to cause another upset.

Steels can go into the game with a confidence following a good pre season which saw them win four and draw two of their six friendly fixtures.

Most of last season’s squad have retained but with a few new additions, manager Chris Hilton will be hoping they can build on last season’s good form which was unfortunately cut short.

Due to coronavirus restrictions and FA rules, attendance on Saturday is limited to 350 supporters and tickets have been selling well. Unfortunately, once that figure has been achieved, supporters will be refused entry.

Stocksbridge Park Steels FC have worked hard over the last few weeks to put coronavirus preparations in place to try and ensure the safety of supporters. The club asks that everybody attending takes notice of the instructions around the ground and follows advice of the stewards to ensure all runs smoothly.

The club will be under close scrutiny, especially with the TV cameras there, so your cooperation will be paramount.
