The Lombard Park District Board of Park Commissioners and Staff continues to work with our consulting team to develop a Comprehensive Master Plan. We would like to thank those who have participated in focus groups. An updated schedule and information may be found on our website under the business link. We hope your voice will continue to be heard throughout this process. If you have questions regarding the plan, please contact the Administration Office at (630) 627-1281. LOMBARD LEAPERS GYMNASTICS

(Ages 6-14) The Lombard Leapers Gymnastics program will focus on the four events of gymnastics: beam, bars, floor, and vault. Our instructors from locally-owned Tumbling Times, Inc. are passionate about providing a positive and productive experience for your child. The program is equipped to accommodate a wide range of skills and age levels, and instructors are dedicated to helping your child learn and progress. For the first time, participants in the program will have the option of competing in meets against tumblers from other park districts from January-May of 2014 (for an additional fee). The Beginner Level is for gymnasts with little to no experience on the apparatuses. The Adv. Beg/Novice Level is for gymnasts with some experience and who can execute skills such as back walkovers and flip-flops. Instructors will assess gymnasts at the first class and will place them accordingly. Practices may occasionally be cancelled due to GEHS events, and will be made up on a different weekday. Participants who register for both Tumbling & Gymnastics will receive a 10% discount for each class (please register in person or call 630-620-7322 after completing online registration to receive the discount). CHICAGOLAND INCREDIBLE EDIBLES

(Ages 18 +)

Three great Chicagoland culinary creations await you today as we enjoy a day of local incredible edibles! Start with Chocolate at Long Grove Confectionery Candy Factory in Buffalo Grove. The one-hour tour includes a short history of chocolate then a look at the kitchen. See and smell the creation of delicious candies like truffles, meltaways, peanut clusters and the famous chocolate covered strawberries. Of course there are samples and time to shop in the mammoth outlet store. Chicago-style deep dish pizza is the next great love of the day, and nobody makes it better than Lou Malnati’s! You can have their frozen pizzas shipped anywhere, but we’re going to enjoy it fresh in Schaumburg! Originally the Quindel Hotel at the center of a sleepy farming village, the building became a Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria in 1985. Here enjoy lunch of delicious deep dish pizza and Chicken Louie! Top off the day at Lynfred Winery in Roselle. Though miles from vineyards and orchards, Lynfred brings in grapes and fruits to create its award winning wines. Taste seven different fruits of the vine and branch. Stained glass windows and oak wood floors adorn the tasting room and sales area of this century old house that is Lynfred Winery. Chicago’s Own Chocolate, wine and pizza all in one day...Incredible! Trips departs from Sunset Knoll Recreation Center. Location: Sunset Knoll Recreation Center

KEEPING A GRATITUDE JOURNAL

(Ages 13 +) Learn a more positive way of thinking, and appreciate the things you have. A recent study has found that people who keep a gratitude journal, in which they wrote down the things they are grateful for, were less likely to be stressed and unhappy than those people who did not keep a journal. Real life isn’t always perfect; it doesn’t always go our way, however the recurring acknowledgment of what is working in your life can help you not only survive, but surmount your difficulties and become a better person. NORDIC WALKING

(Ages 15 +) Nordic walking is defined as fitness walking with specially designed poles. Compared to regular walking, Nordic walking (also called pole walking) involves applying force to the poles with each stride. Nordic walkers use more of their entire body (with greater intensity) and receive fitness building stimulation not present in normal walking for the chest, lats, triceps, biceps, shoulder, abdominals, spinal and other core muscles that may result in significant increases in heart rate at a given pace. Nordic walking can produce up to a 46% increase in energy consumption compared to walking without poles. It also has been demonstrated to increase upper body muscle endurance by 38% in just twelve weeks. general information INSURANCE

ATTENTION DOG OWNERS

AFFILIATE PROGRAMS

The Lombard Park District does not provide medical insurance coverage for individuals who participate in District programs or use District facilities. To do so would make programs and user fees cost prohibitive.

Dogs are required by Park District ordinance to be on a leash at all times. We also ask owners to refrain from walking their dogs on athletic fields, children’s play areas and paths, and to pick up after their pets.

Several independent organizations use Park District fields and facilities, and/or provide special programs not offered by the Park District.
