Lollipops & Daydreams

Spring Summer 2017

SS17 Wizard of Oz

Made in 1939, the movie The Wizard of Oz was based on a tale by L. Frank Baum.

The inspiration I loved the Wizard of Oz movie growing up. There was something so magical about it. From Dorothy, to the moving from the black and white world to the amazing colours of Oz, the songs, the characters. It had everything! It was also a little terrifying (those lying monkeys), but still magical.

It tells the tale of Dorothy's Kansas house being swept up into a tornado before it touches down (on top of the Wicked Witch) in a colourful world of Muchkinland .

As a nod to the monochrome we have our bolt dress and cushions. There are also unisex harem

Dorothy The softer pastel colours in the collection are inspired by both Dorothy herself and her famous blue dress.

Gingham and Pastels

When I began to work on my SS17 collection gingham was firmly in my mind. I sourced a lovely 100% cotton version in a few colours and I've used it in a number of skirts and also on tops and dresses. Frill collars are used in a number of the summer dresses. They can be trimmed with lace for the most special occassion. Made from the same fabric as the dress for a more classical look. Or provide a lovely contrast to the fabric in the dress. The beauty of the neckline frill is that it brings attention to a child's sweet face.

We are delighted to introduce some new styles and also some crochet sleeveless jumpers , these will be available from March and are handmade in Ireland also.

Lollipops & Daydreams started with making children's soft furnishings and for this year I am bringing in a new home range for children. The boys range is very much inspired by vintage images of old fashioned cars, toys and planes and I've used gingham also on a number of the cushions. The contrast of the classic gingham with the land of Oz is also quite striking in the movie.

And then the Rainbows When Dorothy's farmhouse came to rest in Munchkinland, a rainbow of colours appeared on screen. SS17 is filled with a rainbow of colour in dresses and soft furnishings
