The TransLogisTIC project, launched in 2007, relies on the expertise and experience of a particularly large number of partners from a range of complementary backgrounds: large businesses, SMEs and spin-offs, most francophone universities and a research centre.
TransLogisTIC has led to a number of concrete achievements: - a new rail command & control system, the cost of which will make it more appropriate for freight transport; - an innovative ‘track & trace’ solution that locates goods to a shipping container and its content, regardless of the mode of transport. This feat uses a robust GPS/GPRS marker that can assess its environment and is self-powered; - an online portal available to carriers and clients, using new services including road optimisation, floating inventories and fleet management.
