Briefs National Volunteer Week We tipped our hats to 14 of Council’s tourism and events volunteers at a special morning tea at Lake Dyer on 21 May to celebrate National Volunteer Week. This year’s theme of “Your Year to Volunteer” was all about encouraging Australians to make giving back a priority. Volunteers play a critical role in our community and help make the cogs turn behind the scenes. Collectively, they contribute almost 1,500 hours of service each year – be it supporting community events, welcoming visitors and making the Lockyer Valley a better place, and we’re incredibly proud and grateful for their ongoing dedication. One of Council’s newest recruits is 84-year-old Lyn Fuller. “I get so much out of it – from interacting with and meeting new people to finding out about new places – I’m enjoying it immensely,” she said.
