Suzi Roberts

A

fter a 27 year break from the show ring Suzi Roberts didn’t do a bad job as stand-in for her daughter Sam, who is currently recovering from an injury. Suzi took a break from working at the Townfield Saddlers stand at South of England Show to qualify two ponies for HOYS. Henrietta Knight and Lady Vestey’s Connemara stallion, Lecarrow King headed up a strong class after completing a polished individual show. While Kirsty Gatland’s Dales mare, Sunglow Lady Paula, did an equally impressive performance to win her class for the third time at the show. Sam who was busily directing operations from her wheel chair, hopes to be fully recovered in time for the October final, but until then she has to admit “mum’s not doing a bad job!” Localrider would like to wish Sam a speedy recovery and we hope to see you back in the saddle soon.

Georgia Aungier

G

eorgia Aungier is having a very busy and successful season with her two rides, Kintillo Faberge and Master Mickey Finn. Producing both ponies from home, with the help of her mother, Alex, who insists, “she is just the groom!” Kintillo Faberge is Georgia’s new ride for this year and the partnership got off to a great start by winning the 143cm Show Hunter Pony at the South of England Spring Show, standing Reserve Champion. Since then red, white and blue rosettes have come flooding in for the young pair with titles at Great Chart, Ponies UK South and Supreme Champion PBA at South of England. With the help of her trainer, Oliver Burchall, she hopes to achieve her ambition of qualifying for the SEIB Search For A Star at HOYS. With her ‘superstar’ pony, Master Mickey Finn, she continues to add to their amazing show record winning the Coloured Championships at both Heathfield and South of England. Having gained their RIHS ticket early in the season their sights are now set on HOYS. Master Mickey Finn is a strong contender in the WHP classes and his sweet nature means he’s been teaching Georgia’s younger sisters to ride too. Llanfylin Shooting Star

L

lanfylin Shooting Star won his section and stood Champion at South of England, to book his place at HOYS for the third occasion. Ridden by busy working mother, Katy Chappell, the dun stallion has only had three outings this season due to his busy covering schedule. His fantastic temperament means that carrying out his stud duties while still competing doesn’t faze the former Royal Welsh winner.

Emma Lucas Eighteen-year-old Emma Lucas and Peruvian Bear qualified for the RIHS at Stevenage. This new combination has been getting to know each other since the beginning of the year and a spot on performance saw them land the ticket in the junior section. Kent based Emma is aiming the bay Connemara gelding at the WHP section and they have already made a good start with some promising results for them to build on.

Helen Swell

H

elen Swell and Drumbally Lady have been competing at BE100 Level and have started to notch up some great results in very strong company. With the help of her trainer Rebbecca Gibbs, she and the nine-year-old coloured mare have slowly made their way up the levels and were second at Tweseldown horse trials in March and qualified for a BE100 Regional Final. Helen also competes Drumbally Lady in dressage, show jumping and working hunter classes. Helen is always the very first to credit her continued success to her supportive mother and father, without whose help none of her success would have been possible. 16 Localrider AUGUST 2010 16-17rrup_aug10.indd 1
