Dear Parents/Caregivers, The term is moving ahead so quickly, it’s hard to believe that we are almost halfway through the term already. We have had a fabulous time at kindy over the last few weeks, celebrating Pancake Day, Playing with our friends from Lobethal P.S and learning lots about Pirates, treasure and the Sea. We have had loads of wonderful experiences, which has enhanced our learning in relation to Literacy and Numeracy. We have read and followed treasure maps, followed clues, searched for treasure, made our own treasure chest and kindy treasure, as well as sorting through the vast quantities of ‘real’ kindy treasure found through our treasure hunt/s. We have also had a ball face painting, singing, dancing and engaging in loads of art activities. As you can see, Kindy is certainly a fun place to be! We are all so excited about our Beach Excursion for all of our FULL TIME kindy children. Notes and consents have been distributed. If you have not received a copy, please contact staff asap.

We are aware of the fabulous amount of Parent support that we receive on our excursions. Whilst we love including and inviting every single parent to attend our excursions, we also have limited seating on the bus. This excursion is certainly going to be tricky, trying to seat parent helpers, particularly as we have opted to take the bus with seatbelts which leaves us with only a handful of seats left for parent helpers and staff. A great way to involve lots of parents is to see if parents would like to travel down behind the bus by car (car pooling with others would be an excellent option). By doing this, parents can still join in on the fun at the art gallery and beach, while enjoying a much quieter journey!!! We are sure that you understand the seating issue, as the kindy children and their safety is our major priority. We appreciate your understanding and support and look forward to a brilliant excursion. Hope to see you at our Welcome to 2010 BBQ on Friday night! DROP OFF & PICK UP TIMES

ALL KINDY FEES ARE NOW DUE. Kindy Fees are essential to the general running and maintenance of our Kindergarten. The 2010 fee structure is as follows: • Pre-Entry- $20.00 per term • Sessional Kindergarten- $100.00 per term (Including lunch care) Please ensure that outstanding payments are made asap. See Lee if you would like to arrange a payment plan.

COFFEE & CHAT SUCCESS On behalf of our kindy community I would like to thank Haylie Fox for organising our first parent get together for 2010.Haylie did a great job organizing a Tupperware party during Coffee and Chat, which gave purpose to the get together. Haylie’s efforts have ensured that we will get lots of new plastic-ware for kindy. Thanks so much to everyone who came along and/or placed orders.

THANKS A MILLION Thanks so much to Naomi Norton (Aaron’s Mum), who conducted dance lessons at kindy on Thursday. Naomi had all children totally engrossed and engaged during her extremely organised movement lessons based on our beach theme. Naomi is a brilliant creative dance teacher and we are all very fortunate and thankful to her for sharing her brilliant skills with us.

URGENT RETURN REQUIRED Please ensure that you return your red Emergency Contact Information Slip ASAP. This slip was sent home last week with our kindy’s Bushfire Action Plan and a Fire Safety Information update. The return of this form provides us with emergency contact information for us to use on days that are declared Code RED and that we are required to close. The slip also provides an acknowledgement from Parents stating that the fire update info has been read.

Please adhere to these drop off and pick up times as staff are required to use times prior to and after sessions to prepare and pack up activities. Please remember to use the sign in register everyday. Our sign in register provides staff with vital information which is used to determine attendance in an emergency. Please also remember to write on the sign in register and inform staff if alternative pick up arrangements are being made on any given day.

BOOK BORROWING We are so lucky here at Lobethal kindy to have such a fabulous range of high quality children’s literature available for children to borrow. Please assist your child to borrow a book everyday they attend kindy. Even if you have loads of books at home, the benefits of developing strong daily routines and an appreciation for books and literature is priceless.

EARLY YEARS FRAMEWORK Last week teaching staff attended some training on the newly launched and soon to be implemented National Early Years Framework, titled ‘Being, Belonging, Becoming’. It will be used in all education and care settings across the nation. The framework has lots of interesting components and will be a great framework to use in our setting. We will be using 2010 to familiarise ourselves with the document and it’s principles. We will keep you informed on our progress. PARENT HELP ROSTER Thanks so much to the parents who have volunteered to help out with this term’s help roster. We have published the allocated dates so you know what dates you have been rostered on to. We still have some spots to fill, (see below) so if you can help out, please let Margot know. Lobethal Community Kindergarten 2010 Governing Council invites all kindy families to our

THIS FRIDAY!

To help us all celebrate the start of another great kindy year and to enable us to all get acquainted, we are holding a family get together on Friday, 26th February from 5.30pm for a 6pm dinner. We are asking that all families bring a plate of dessert to share. Sausages in bread will be available to purchase for $1.50 each and assorted drinks be available to purchase also.
